Montreux Sky Race! Pushed hard from the start and tried to hold on to the end. Once again noticed that I tend to pass loads of people on the steep climbs after the first hour or so. Need to work on the technical downs though as I do lose some places again there. 22nd out of 500 runners and just an hour behind Tom Evans who won overall :)

Mont Blanc summit day (4810m)!

It started storming and snowing from 8pm onwards so things weren't looking up and we had a nap on the floor, expecting to have to call it off.

The clouds had lifted enough by 1am so we thought we'd at least go have a look... ;) Despite tough going on the scrambles due to the fresh snow, the weather kept improving and we got to enjoy a relatively quiet day on the mountain, reaching the summit to a gorgeous sunrise. The highest peak I've climbed, an unexpectedly aesthetic snowy ridgeline and a really rewarding day!

Caught the cable car and tram up to Ni d'Aigle and hiked up to the Tete Rousse refuge from there, hoping to loiter around in their dining room until about midnight, when we wanted to set off for our Mont Blanc summit attempt.

Was keen for a long mountain run but also wary of overdoing it before the 62km race on Saturday. So 35k with 2000m climb at a comfortable pace seemed about right. Mix of fun, flowy trails and rocky stumble-along stuff. Great views throughout!
