Down down down (1500m of it) all the way to the cars, on a decent path most of the way.

A much better bang-for-buck day, with much easier terrain on the ridge and some epic views over the surrounding peaks. Got really close-up to Towerkop as well, traversing some of the high ledges to get to Nel's Cave which is rich in mountaineering history. People have been overnighting here since 1885! A really special day.

Oof - this turned into a big day. Started with a bit of scrambling to reach the top of Seweweekspoort Peak (highest in the WC at 2325m), where Andrew crashed his drone and took some time to find it. Most of the rest of the day was on reasonable traversing terrain, with some big scree fields, but the last 2km to Skull Cave got really complex, with many slabs and rock bands to avoid on steep terrain. We only just got to Skull Cave as it got dark and were out of water, so very happy to find a well inside the cave! :)

Hiked the Klein Swartberg Traverse from east to west over the "long weekend" with Fran, Andrew & Melch. Spectacular and wild ridgeline with some great caves to sleep in along the way.

Day 1 was up the long ridge to Coles Cave on the high slopes of Seweweekspoort. Very chilly overnight!
