running race 4:14:00 [5] 34.03 km (7:28 / km) +900m 6:36 / km

Nine Edges race. Beautiful day for it; others seemed to think it was too hot but my sweat-drenched shirt kept me nice and cool throughout. This is half as far again as i have ever run before, but coupled with the climb and the terrain made it the equivalent of a marathon i reckon. and my time of 4:15 is likely to be around the time i would run a road marathon if my knees could cope with the road. my training for this involved a) checking i could walk for 20 miles, b) an off road 1/2 M O course in richmond park. It doesn;t naturally follow that because i passed a and b that it was sensible to try and run the nine edges, but i thought it worth a shot. the first 25K were fine, then pain in upper thighs/hips slowed me down for the next 5K and i had to walk the last 4K.

very satisfying overall; next year need to keep running to the end and beat 4 hours!
