running (snow) 56:04 [3] 8.88 km (6:19 / km) +250m 5:32 / km

drove out to the mayfield valley education centre rather than running from home so I could get straight into the better snow (Red RAV enjoyed the snow-packed roads too!). tried out some other tracks and paths as well as some of the same as yesterday; also had a loop up ringinglow road (closed to traffic) and back through lady channings. bit windy so it felt colder at times though not uncomfortable. snow has melted quite a bit today.

Note

Nobody would go sledging with me :( so went running again :)

running (snow) 1:09:45 [4] 12.06 km (5:47 / km) +200m 5:20 / km

Another good run in the snow, most of it soft and therefore hard work, but some was nicely compacted and fun to run in, esp down the path next to clough lane. Route: home to ranmoor, up to lodge moor via tom lane and crimicar lane, then headed a bit further out (still not sure of al the roads at the top of the mayfield valley and it was getting a little dark), saw loads of people sledging and skiing; the landscape looked beautiful, almost completely white (both the land and the sky) except for the stone walls dividing the fields and an odd farm or two. went up to the road after forge dam as it was getting a bit dark to go back through the park.

running (snow) 53:43 [4] 9.47 km (5:40 / km)

from home down to the park; up to forge dam and beyond and back along the road through fulwood, nether green, ranmoor and home. not a bad time considering the snow (one step forward, half step back). stopped for one photo break and would've done more but wanted to keep the momentum and only had phone camera with me.

Thursday Jan 7, 2010 #

running (snow) 32:00 [2] 4.45 km (7:11 / km)

with cobbige in the snow around goodwin, commonside, walkley and crookes.

Wednesday Jan 6, 2010 #

running (snow) 1:01:00 [1] 9.0 km (6:47 / km)

A lazy but fun run in proper snow for a change up the porter valley and back. saw lots of sledgers and two skiiers! time is slow cos it includes two periods of walking, basically the uphill bits, hence "lazy".

Circuits etc 1:00:00 [3]

SYO Club night. really fun stuff tonight with contour team relay stuff, and then stick in the mud, which totally knackered me.

Tuesday Jan 5, 2010 #

running (snow) 13:00 [2] 1.5 mi (8:40 / mi)

in work in the snow. took glasses off so i could see where i was going. cars going nowhere fast.

walk 20:00 [1] 1.5 mi (13:20 / mi)

home from work

Monday Jan 4, 2010 #

running 13:00 [1] 1.5 mi (8:40 / mi)

in work (very carefully over the ice)

running 15:30 [3] 1.5 mi (10:20 / mi)

run home

Note

Today (roughly) is my 5th anniversary of running, and haven't once considered not running since I started. Have gone from being barely able to run for 1 minute 5 years ago to running the 20 mile nine edges race last year. Quite proud of that!
