KP loops with Ben and Christophe, first and last one for a while. Mark turned up to KP after we'd finished to see how we went, which in my case was a bit crap. Well I was on the TCR and I did fall off the back on the fourth time down Lovekin Dr when Christophe decided to see how fast he could go and then they had to slow down slightly for me at the top of Forrest because I was never going to get back on - these sub-17min laps are getting more and more frequent of late. I did actually lead for most of the last lap, something I haven't done for a while and I remembered during it how much harder it was to lead.
Managed to secure an appointment at the non-accredited health professional's place at a time very convenient to the ride (8:40am) and I only called them at 7am too, just before we started riding, and fortunately they had a cancellation right before I rang so worked out well. Rode there on the way home then via Tonkin/Roe Hwy paths. I had been led to believe that the path along the railway line past King William St had reopened but it had not.
Well the new year certainly didn't do anything to improve my terrible timing. My training finally got approved early this afternoon meaning I'll be away for the next five weeks and of course only a few hours later I get a call asking if I want to work at the Aus v Eng ODI at Perth Stadium on Sunday - the opening match at the new stadium no doubt with 60,000 people!!! So after not having any beneficial paid employment for ten months I suddenly have overlapping roles.

Thought it might be the last day I get to take the MTB out for a while and turns out to be the case so headed down to Langford Park for an interval set. Session was 5 x 10/5 at race pace on the 'good' tracks to get a bit of speed happening. Seemed to work okay although the legs didn't feel overly strong but then I always seem to think that. Started and finished with single track riding.
I seem to have done a minor injury to my right hand and/or wrist when trying to open a Sodastream bottle last night with a lid that just wouldn't come off. Both wrist and thumb are sore today, not that it's anything unusual for the thumb at the moment.
BBL commentators continue to amaze me. With the Adelaide Strikers and Perth Scorchers both securing home semi-finals, the comment was made 'Scorchers are used to this but it's new territory for the Strikers'. Umm... Strikers finished on top of the ladder in two of the past three seasons you idiots. They just never made it through to the final.
