Missed days 2,3 and 4 owing to groin injury initially but then really felt pretty crap for a few days. Tried to stay in bed as much as possible to recover/avoid infecting others in the house.

Managed to do string/off string course each day with boys but that was enough.

Dodgy start thought compass was knackered but was just a bit confused, I think. So wide to easy no 1. OK until 7 where I left path too early. A bit off line to 10. However groin got painful during long run to 9 and was very sore at end, probably not helped by making a real effort on run-in and getting 1 sec off fastest split.

Oxford parkrun 36th

Wasn't going to go as my knee was a bit swollen, but as Heather was going thought I should test how running felt with the knee in this condition. As suspected I didn't notice it while I was runnng, and it might have actually helped with mobility.

Felt a bit rubbish which might explain why I went off a bit too fast and then had to hang on. Pretty surprised and pleased to duck under 24. Plenty of improvement over the last couple of months but I suspect the next minute will require a lot more work.

GPS Splits: 4:34, 4:49, 5:00, 5:04, 4:26 (0.913 @ 4:52)

Groin was a bit sore in latter stages and afterwards which in hindsight I should have taken more notice of. Was fine after a day or so, and forgot about it in busy week,

Sutton Park Green

Fitted in while running download. Very hot day, a bit tired from yesterday. Felt reasonably clean barring 4 where I went too low,need to analyse properly later.

Ok, also: slight miss left at 6 when I didn't see control was posiitoned to the right of copse rather than in middle of it, 11 when I missed the path through the green. About 3 mins at 4, 30 secs at each of other two.

Swindon Urban Race Vet Men 6.3km

Don't think I am going to turn into a hot weather runner. Felt fresh enough at start but 30°C too much. Pretty happy with route choice though a bit slow to reverse tracks out of 1, and took safe route to 14 when overprint obscured whether it was possible to get through hedge.

Easy down river to Botley Road and back on canal.

Much too hot for me - 27°C and I should have waited until it got cooler. Also need to sort out chafing problem.

Oxford parkrun - 1st time after intending to go for a long time. Big recent PB for 5k.

Good fun - found it difficult to settle on a race pace, probably because I was running a bit faster than expected and worried about it. Once had 2k to go found it easier to go all out. Had a nice tussle with one guy where I was faster on the climb, he was faster on the flat but then I got him on the sprint. However another guy got me!

Splits: 4:44, 4:57, 5:06, 4:55, 4:36 (950m measured, 4:50 pace)

Warm up of 10min cycle ride to get there + jog around the railway; cycle back.

Attempt at interval session 3x1km@4:50 with 4 min interval.

Did 4:46, 4:53, 4:45 so pretty good given I hadn't set up the watch very well

Of course, not sure if this is an effective session but seemed quite testing.
