Event: Hudson Highlander X

Orienteering 6:11:08 [3] *** 26.3 km (14:07 / km)
spiked:22/26c
Hudson Highlander X. Much walking, and brutal leg cramps on the last loop at Sebago. One really nasty error (25 minutes).

I guess it's a "rest" day, although I don't feel rested. Got the steel up on the bridge today. Tomorrow the nailers and start the deck. Picked a couple of loads of rocks to riprap the upstream side of the abutments. I'm wondering about the persistent lower leg cramps and weight loss. Not feeling too optimistic about the Highlander. Usually the leg cramps come after the race.

Running 13:00 [3] 1.5 mi (8:39 / mi)
I've been working on my bridge a fair amount, but mostly just walking up and down checking on progress, and picking up stones with the backhoe for backfilling. Today the track came off the excavator, and I ran up from the bridge to Michael's truck and back to get some tools. Made me breathe hard, especially since I was in jeans, boots and two shirts.
Running 45:00 [3] 4.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
Down Bunker Hill and up Hanson. It's a little late for Highlander training, and it appears that I'm in trouble. Legs felt weird, and my calves are cramping.
Other (ab workout) 10:00 [3]
slept:7.5 weight:157lbs
When I got back from running, Rhonda was finishing a half hour of slow curl-up/curl down situps. So I tried 10 minutes worth. Weight is down. Is it my new neck medicine? Looked it up on the web, where it said weight loss was an infrequent side effect. It also said the normal dose is twice what I'm taking, and then up to three times a day (I'm doing it once).

Wednesday Sep 28

cycling 39:28 [2] 5.23 mi (7:32 / mi)
Mountain bike ride down the back trail to the bridge, and to Lavander Rd, Ratlum, and back up devil's elbow. Hard to find "training" opportunities, although I've been walking back and forth to the bridge about five times a day, picking up rocks, etc.
