cycling 1:25:15 [3] 22.64 mi (3:46 / mi)

Sandy Brook Rd, with Rhonda. She is getting stronger, particularly on the downhills, so no rest for me. Kind of tired after yesterday's climb.

slept:5.0

Gentle ride over to Simsbury, with a break to admire Lyn and George's fine garden and the varied wildlife enjoying it. Then a serious mountain stage on the way back, including the 3K climb to the summit of 219, the ascent of the dreaded Coude de Diable (HC), where I had visions of imaginary polka-dot jerseys that turned out to be just spots before my eyes, and the finish atop the lofty Alpe d'eWeese. I fear I would have been spit out by the peloton, had there been one. The route.

Not much time, so took the loop that goes from home up Case St and back on 219 and up Devil's Elbow. Always gets the heart pumping, and an opportunity to squirrel away polka-dot jersey points.

Gym 45:00 [3]
weight:166.5lbs

Rhonda's morning class. Pretty hard, and very sweaty. I haven't been doing these because of issues with my wrists, but the wrists are doing a bit better. Still, I am way behind and it all is pretty uncomfortable. The girls are way ahead of me.

Note

Had planned on running with the girls this morning, but my foot is quite sore after the easy half hour jog yesterday.

Note

A strenuous couple of hours de-junking a new piece of land trust property. We had only a short period of time with a temporary access, so had to do it this evening. Filled a rather substantial dumpster and still some in my pickup truck. Luckily my friend Ted agreed to take the pickup to the dump tomorrow.

cycling 1:23:20 [3] 22.61 mi (3:41 / mi)

Pleasant Valley up Sandy Brook Rd and back, with Rhonda. She is getting pretty spunky - 7 minutes faster than when we rode this route a couple of days ago.

Running 29:30 [3] 2.75 mi (10:44 / mi)
slept:5.0

Art Sweeton loop, with Hazel. Fair number of FDFs, although still well within tolerable limits. Very sweaty out.

cycling 1:10:24 [3] 18.79 mi (3:45 / mi)

Cutting it way too close - took a ride through W Simsbury and down to where I get my car fixed, but arrived five minutes after they closed. Rhonda ended up driving down with a spare set of keys for me.

cycling 1:30:00 [3] 22.5 mi (4:00 / mi)
weight:166.5lbs

Easy ride up Sandy Brook Rd and back from Pleasant Valley with Rhonda. Original plan was to go 40, but neither of us felt particularly spunky. Ride was nicer just kicking back.

Note

Nice round of golf with Tom at 5 pm. Recovered from nasty case of slices of two weeks ago - 4 pars and 1 birdie.

Note

Some progress down at the culvert. Dirt is still very greasy, and tried to push it around for a while to no avail. Finally dug a hole up the trail a ways and found some nice dry subsoil that spread nicely over a piece of geo-textile.
