Orienteering race 24:33 [4] 2.9 mi (8:28 / mi)

Sprint at 1000 day. Part of a long day. Got up at 3:15 eastern to fly out at 6. Arrived in Laramie at 3:15 MDT, straight out to the race. Pretty tired

Tried to sneak out for 15 or so this afternoon, but the cell phone rang after 2, so cut it short. From near the SE corner of Lake McDonough down to N. Hartford, up 44 to 181 to Pleasant Valley and over Savile Dam to go S on 219 and back. Pleasant day, but had to rush back for a call.

Note

Golf with Chris around 5:30. Playing not too badly (incl a birdie on the 4th at Simsbury, but got behind a train of the most abominably slow players ever and cut it short. After the 5th (in about 1:45) cut over to the 9th and then home.

Up Sandy Brook Rd to S Sandisfield, back on N. Hartford Rd, with Rhonda, Mary Ellen and Harold. Nice weather, good company. A fine ride indeed

Down to Pleasant Valley and up E River Rd a bit, back to Stanclift cove to meet Rhonda and hitch a ride back up to the house. Still very cautious about hills until my back eases up.

Out slightly after 6 am with Rhonda and Jan Tanner and Sue Day. Jan is in triathlon training and zoomed off the front. The plan was once around the Pleasant Valley-Riverton loop. Rhonda and Sue and I were together for about 6.5 miles until my quad tightened up and I walked back. Includes a short stop to take an airedale puppy home who thought he should be running with us. So anyway, all the girls dumped me. Extremely hot, even that early. Dropped 5 pounds on the run!

The rest of the way back, once it became clear my run was over.
