Sunday Aug 27

Orienteering race 1:50:35 [4]6.78 km (16:19 / km) +220m 14:02 / km
Red course at Sessions Woods local meet set by Peter Grollman. Very fine course, but alas some problems finding a few. Rained pretty steadily while I was out there, and tough to get through the wet blueberries and ferns.

Red - Splits

Friday Aug 25

Note
weight:166lbs (rest day)
Didn't start out this way, but raining in the morning when Rhonda and I were going to ride bikes, and then fell asleep around 2:30! Arising only to answer some phone calls and then back to the sack until 5, when we went out to dinner and a movie (Prairie Home Companion - excellent). Did some serious g damage at dinner, unfortunately.

Thursday Aug 24

Running (trail run) 25:44 [3]2.75 mi (9:21 / mi)
weight:165lbs
Art Sweeton loop, without Hazel, as she was off at the groomer's getting trimmed up.
Note
Golf with Tom and the boys at Rockledge. For some unexplicable reason I had high hopes of good play, but they were dashed immediately. Really only three good shots the whole round - drives on the two par fives and a 75 yard pitch to three feet. This time of year it helps to play in a foursome, because I can't see the ball against the sky and need a lot of help to find where it has gone!

yoga-pilates 1:10:00 [3]

Rhonda's 6am class. First time in a long while. Didn't go too badly.

Why so little sleep? Seems I stayed up much too late!

Remarkable circumstance when I got up. J-J had arrived in the night (reportedly at 3:15 am). Rhonda said his shoes were in the hall and I told her that was not possible, since he was driving from Chicago and planning on only going as far as Pennsylvania, but there he was, tucked in bed like Goldilocks.

Running (trail run) 26:21 [3]2.75 mi (9:34 / mi)
Art Sweeton loop, with Hazel. Doesn't include a 3 minute break for Hazel to swim at Big Down Marsh.

Tuesday Aug 22

Running (trail run) 27:48 [3]2.8 mi (9:55 / mi)
weight:166lbs
Art Sweeton trail with Hazel, who was happy for company after a couple of weeks of lolling about the house. Checked out my culvert, where the dirt has finally set up pretty nicely. I need to smooth it out a bit, but otherwise I think it will do just fine.

Monday Aug 21

Note
Big travel day. Left Colby KS with J-J at around 8 am. Stopped for lunch in Wamego with my Aunt Fran, age 96, then pressed on to St Louis, where I hopped a plane and on home. J-J pressed on for Chicago.
