| PT - Went to see Brian again this morning, for heat, electro stim, ultrasound and massage. I've straightened up a fair amount since yesterday, but still uncomfortable and listing forward and to the left. I've laid off the percocet since yesterday afternoon without noticeable increase in discomfort. He has me on very restricted activity - certainly more restricted than I would be on my own advice. Said he was happy for me to walk around for up to 10 minutes at a time, but he didn't want me doing anything more aggressive. |

| Off to see Brian, the PT guy this morning. It seems that the most debilitating part of this recovery is that I strained my back getting out of the hospital bed when I was leaving the hospital, just from guarding my stomach and not being careful enough. Now my back is more tender than my stomach, and I can't stand up straight. So Brian did a little traction (which did not work out so well) and a little elecro stim (which did), and I'll go back tomorrow.
For those who think of this as a weight loss program, I can't recommend it. My general level of bloatedness is starting to come down, but I'm still carrying some extra water weight. |

| Stationary recumbent at the hotel in Providence, reading the ProJo. Ordinarily of a fine evening like this in Providence I would have gone out for a perambulation up through Brown and around the eastern environs of the city, but since I am still on restricted activity, decided for the hotel gym. |

| This was a new activity for me. I looked at the machine askance, and since I was inclined to read the ProJo and not at all sure I had the coordination to operate this machine and read, went on the bike first. Brian the PT has been suggesting that an elliptical was just the thing for me and my knee issues, so I thought I really should try it. So I went for 20 minutes, working up a good sweat and some sensation of strain in a few places, like the obliques, lower back, calves. We'll see how I feel tomorrow. Meanwhile, it certainly bothered my knee not at all, which is a good sign. |
