Very nice red course by walk. Rainy day, so a bit slippery in the woods, and too much moisture on my glasses to see anything but the biggest features on the map. That worked pretty well for a course like this with long legs and route choices involving mountains. Nominal course length 8.7, but I took some around routes. Mostly fine, but pulled up short on the way to 2 where I couldn't see anything on the map, and so didn't realize I had to get over to the rocky hill. Pretty good route to 4, in contact all the way despite not seeing the map at all well. Going to 6, Dave Yee passed me on the trail shortly before the control. He stayed on the trail longer, but we both missed off to the left. I saw the two rocky outcrops, but wasn't sure if they were the center and N one or the E and center one, so drifted too far. Dave was up by the boulder near the center one, so I figured it out first and got to #6. Then I couldn't see the map and just went on a bearing toward 7, sucked off by a rock to the right. Dave went up and over to 8. I took the trail all the way around, which was apparently 7 minutes faster. Starting to get to me going uphill to 10 and 11.
My route.
