Other 20 [3]

6 ring pull-ups. Did a full hang between each one, and didn't want to push it.

60 degrees in mid-December? Went out to do about 12, but ran into Cindy near Riverton, so went with her a bit further. First time on the bike in a while.

Note

Pretty frustrated with Garmin. I have been getting sync error messages the last few days, finally downloaded things on Wahoo instead, which worked except it didn't pick up the split times I had recorded.

Note

A very enjoyable walk around Sessions with several of the Land Trust folks, Dennis Nogiec from DEEP and DEEP forester Peter Picone. He explained some history of the property, management objectives and funding, the theories behind the 14-acre clearcut of 2001, which is now growing up enough that it is feasible for an orienteer to traverse it, and the 33 acre clearcut of 2103, which will be impassable for orienteers for some time. Some very interesting insights into why they have done things the way they have, the kinds of flora and fauna that are returning, results of some of their experiments, as well as stuff they already know but that were not necessarily obvious to me. Dennis was nice enough to give me 3 beautiful wood duck boxes I will be putting out, maybe two at the Little Down Marsh and one across the path from the Big Down Marsh. Probably best to wait for some colder weather.

PT exercises 1:15:00 [3]
slept:8.25 weight:164.8lbs

Morning session with Eric, more focused on upper body, core today.

Rowing Machine 21:38 [3] 5.0 km (4:20 / km)
slept:8.25 weight:164.6lbs

Not bad. Started out with the idea of trying to be around 22, but as it got nearer the end I saw I could get down under 21:40, so gradually faster over the last 1K, at or under 2 for the last minute. I'm feeling this in the glutes. In years past that subsided after a few weeks of rowing, kind of surprised to still be feeling it, even though I have been sporadic.

Split pace:
2:14.3
2:12.6
2:10.0
2:08.9
2:03.3

Tuesday Dec 8, 2015 #

8 AM

Rowing Machine 8:33 [3] 2.0 km (4:17 / km)
slept:8.0 weight:164.8lbs

Steady 24 pace all the way. 2:11.4, 2:10.1, 2:08.3, 2:03.3

My online logbook shows just over 2.9 million meters since whenever I started logging it, so a bit behind chitown and not likely to catch up at the rate he is going. Of course, there are a lot of stray meters that never got logged, and it doesn't make much difference. That would seem to translate into more or less about 10 straight days of rowing over however many years it is.

12 PM

Rowing Machine 8:51 [3] 2.0 km (4:26 / km)
slept:10.0 weight:163.8lbs

Kept putting this off, not feeling particularly spunky today. Kept the stroke pace to 20 after the first minute, which was kind of interesting. Probably good for developing power.

Note

We've been wondering where the waxwings have been, not coming to the crabapples here. Well, today they have finally shown up. Seems like these days our most common visitors are robins. Quite a lot of them right now. Also quite a few juncos. Friday morning at 5:30 when I was headed out to yoga there was a junco trying to get to the light by Rhonda's chair. He kept bumping into the window, thinking about it, trying again.
