Wandering around NYC, I had a mind to look up
S.F. Vanni, the old Italian bookstore. I wasn't expecting it to be open , but bought it might be interesting to see. Well, nothing there at all. It was a construction site. I had learned that the store was operated by the Primo Levi Center, and that they were a few blocks away at 16th st, so I headed over there to see about it. Turns out that is the location of the Jewish History Center, nice enough place, and maybe the Primo Levi Center has something to do with it, but they certainly weren't in evidence. Not a sign of them. So we walked around inside, saw various exhibits relating to notable Jewish people of the past. One particularly interesting one had a baseball bat and baseball jersey that had belonged to the two most accomplished Jewish baseball players of all time, far as I know.
