I had it in mind to see if I could do this in under an hour. I had always thought it was feasible. but it demands a fair amount of concentration and effort. Not to mention that running into a neighbor for conversation would doom the attempt. Rhonda is a very fast walker, but put off by anything as foolish as a PR attempt, so better to try this solo, so I did it while she was out. Pretty satisfactory, and the hardest effort I've been able to put into anything in quite a while. Excellent therapy for the back, which seems to like this better than anything short of the hot tub.

Still inflamed, but feeling a little better each day from all the stretching and some gradual healing. Every several days I have tried a few strokes on the rowing machine, and thought this might be a time I could actually do some. Tried 10 strokes and then left to see what happened. Stiffened right up, so it is not time yet.

Hike 1:12:38 intensity: (3:23 @0) + (9:00 @1) + (22:15 @2) + (18:56 @3) + (15:52 @4) + (3:12 @5) 5.01 mi (14:30 / mi) +368m 11:48 / mi
ahr:131 max:166 shoes: 2012 gel kayanos

Around the neighborhood, by myself as Rhonda wasn't in the mood. Pushed the pace a bit. Includes about a minute or so chewing the fat with Kathleen, who stopped in her car to say hi.

Hike 1:17:30 [3] 4.9 mi (15:49 / mi)
slept:8.25 weight:166lbs

around the neighborhood with Rhonda again, this time a bit extended, all the way down Bunker Hill to Barbourtown and then back up, but without the Garmin which had used up its battery. Walking better and better, but still very inflamed in the back on the left.

Lots of stretching helps. Seems to be taking a really long time.

With Rhonda around the neighborhood. This is pretty good. I was stiffening up after spending the whole morning at my desk and this was a big improvement.

So-called Ann loop around the neighborhood, all I had time for today.

With Rhonda, around the neighborhood. Today so far is the best day I've had since the injury. Fairly cold, steady pace but not pushing it.

Kind of a busy day, so didn't get out much. Went to the doc this morning who took an X-ray, noted some narrowing between a few disks and a facet joint that looked a bit compromised, but he said he expects me to get better. Sent me off to get some PT, which I will do on Friday.

Meanwhile, Zack spent the afternoon with the backhoe, building a jump for his mountain bike, perhaps requiring some map modification.
