Our last morning in lovely Vilnius. After breakfast Rhonda and I walked around town for an hour and a half or so, to Cathedral square and the statue of Gediminas, through the wonderful gardens at the Bernardino park, so beautifully maintained, across the Vilna into Uzipis, artist's colony and independent republic with a remarkable
constitution posted in 23 languages on stainless steel plaques along the street. Then back across the river, through town hall square and another loop past Cathedral Square in search of a bakery. Very pleasant town.
Now on the excellent Lux Express bus to Riga. Tickets bought far enough in advance were 5€. The bus is very comfortable, beautiful scenery. Very nice way to travel. Quite the best bargain I've run into. We'll be taking it again Friday to Tallinn. 5 more euros. Amazing.
Another interesting site we visited the other day was the
Frank Zappa memorial. Pretty unusual statue, but there are quite a few quirky things around town.
