Still felt heavy-legged and sore, but a big improvement over the other day. Nice purple mushrooms along the trail that were there last year around this time. Now, of course, I forget what they are called. Some research called for.

cycling (light blue bike) 1:27:57 intensity: (3:33 @1) + (32:32 @2) + (27:20 @3) + (2:50 @4) + (21:42 @5) 19.42 mi (4:32 / mi) +144m 4:26 / mi
ahr:139 max:208 slept:6.25 weight:163lbs

Over to W Simsbury, and then a little something different, if not all that interesting, Stratton Brook to Rte 10 then up to Tariffville and thence to Granby, at which point my L hip got a spasm and my back got quite sore. Did a lot of standing on the way back to change the angle a bit, but generally not a successful outing. I had thought I would be continuing on along Notch Rd into N Granby, but pretty clear I had to turn back when I did. HR pretty flaky for the first 7 miles or so.

10 AM

cycling 36:30 intensity: (14:52 @0) + (17:31 @1) + (1:29 @2) + (2:38 @3) 5.58 mi (6:32 / mi) +25m 6:27 / mi
ahr:87 max:138 slept:6.0 weight:164.6lbs

I had offered Rebekah a bicycle, and we had a nice one kicking around that seemed like it would fit the bill, and today was the day. Then Charles wanted to turn it into a family excursion, so I scared up a bike for him to ride and one for Raakel, and we headed down to Pleasant Valley for some flat roads. I would have to say it went much better than I expected. Rebekah and Raakel are not very practiced and quite wobbly. I set them each up in a gear that I thought would maintain them, because I don't think I could have explained shifting to them. Charles was quite a capable cyclist in his youth, but that was a long time ago. He kept it exciting by weaving around them and cutting them off and that sort of thing. But we trundled along, and the girls got better at it as we went, until Rebekah decided she wanted to turn around. Back to the car, all in one piece, and now we have one fewer bike in the basement.
4 PM

cycling 46:20 intensity: (5:57 @1) + (14:12 @2) + (11:44 @3) + (10:22 @4) + (4:05 @5) 7.88 mi (5:53 / mi) +263m 5:20 / mi
ahr:132 max:188

And then out again, after the company left. Rhonda was not up for it by then, so off by myself, and I ended up cutting things short myself. I went up the road in the park, and it was a bit easier this second time. Maybe because I didn't have anybody I had to keep up with. Anyway, it was fine, thought I might go on up to rte 20, but by the time I got to Slade Rd, I just felt like heading back, so a short outing.
