I am a bit subdued this morning. Rhonda tells me that the doc declared the operation a success. I will go see him this afternoon for the follow up visit. I have a substantial bandage on it, which means my glasses don't fit and my vision in the unaffected (left) eye is pretty rudimentary. Maybe I'll get my bandage reduced this afternoon. One could hope. Otherwise,Rhonda tells me I will have bandage for three days and a shield to wear at night for two weeks. The shield is good. Keeps me from scratching the itchy eye.

Surgery scheduled for 1:30 pm. I would be more jolly with some breakfast and a cup of coffee, but alas, that is out of the question.

Cataract surgery this morning. It did not go well. I will have an operation tomorrow to remove a part of the lens capsule that fell into the eye. There will be a story to tell when my eyes calm down enough to make writing stories tolerable. Eyes are pretty sore right now.

Little outing to the Indian Council Rocks with Zack and Sassy. Some pretty serious ice in spots. Lucky for me I was equipped with microspikes. Zack was in icebugs. Sassy was at a bit of a disadvantage, Last time she got groomed they were a little over-enthusiastic and trimmed her toenails, so she didn't have the traction she is used to. But she never complained. Just did a bit of slipping and sliding.

Note

Zack is back. Pretty epic drive, 60 hours on the road, 99 hours total elapsed time, 4,200 miles. He is surprisingly alert after all this. Bounced up this morning after only 7 hours in the sack.

With R&S at the lake. Quite icy, but really fine in our microspikes.

Brown course at Blue Mountain. Excellent. Pleasant day, beautiful woods, fun course on excellent map. Even a brief visit with the course setter. Also quite fine that I could do this almost on the way back from Jess’s place after spending the night in NYC.
Map and route

Quite a nice time, and good navigation on my part. Only problem at all was getting into the map at #1. I was generally in the right area, but not making sense of things until I remembered to look for the stone wall beyond. The control was right behind me. Otherwise reading things well and coming right into them. GPS track went a little nuts between 2 and 4, but I squeezed it to fit. Not sure what that was all about.
