Delightful Minarik family hike. A bit of rain, but a good time.

With George, Andy, Andy’s parents Gary and Laura, and Rhonda as the caddy. Winter Clove is one of the shaggier courses I’ve been on, and only 8 holes (1-7 and 9, as the forest has completely reclaimed the erstwhile 8th some years ago. Played with about 8 or so clubs among us. The course is short, but a bit narrow and some interesting elevation changes. I was well over all the par 3s with the PW. A more lofted club or a more practiced stroke would have been better. Result was 2.5 holes each for me and George, 2 for Andy and 1 for Gary. Not quite fair, though, as Gary left after one hole to take care of Forrest.

With the usual suspects. A bit humid already at 6:30.

Note

About 45 minutes of not unpleasant laurel wrangling down in the clear cut. Hot and buggy elsewhere, but here it was shady and for some reason the bugs weren’t bad. After a bit Zack showed up and didn’t like the way I was piling the stems, so I lost interest.

With R&T, not quite so speedy as sometimes. Got a nice bright blue Bud Light can along the road. I'm sure there were a lot more, but this one was right at the edge, so easy to acquire. The beer of choice for those who like to throw empty cans.
