Note

The generator quit around midnight. So now we’re waiting for a generator technician who may not show up until tomorrow, a propane delivery to top up our tank which sits at around 40%, and someone to remove the tree sitting on the power lines halfway up the driveway, which may or may not result in restoration of power. The electric company is saying that most power in the state will be restored by Tuesday night at midnight. Not all that comforting.

Note

Storm clean up, broken trees and branches, including one large hickory limb that snapped about 40’ up but didn’t release. Instead got hung up iin a black birch. Zack took it as a challenge. Took down the birch with saw and winch in order to do adequate distancing. That eventually got the snapped limb to hang down, and he tried to winch it in several directions to get it to release. Finally got the tractor involved and a tow strap, and pulled it down, pulling a long strip of bark with it.

Lots of other damage, including one of ours that fell across the power line and the road down at the low spot in the road in the Canton side. Still there 24 hours later, so we are more isolated than usual. We are pretty low priority for power restoration, I imagine.

Note

This is a picture Zack took about a week or so ago, and I meant to post it earlier. It is the sunset lined up through two of the windows in the octagonal barn, kind of looks like the barn is on fire. I suppose this only happens exactly like this once a year.

7 AM

Gym (Weights) 1:00:00 [3]
slept:7.0 weight:162.8lbs

In the gym with Eric. Deadlifts, step ups, Bulgarian squats, pushups, bands, stretching, core. Good workout.

Wrangling 1:30:00 [3]

I decided I ought to log this, just to start keeping track of how much I am doing. Also, it must be good training for something, because I am certainly too tired to do much else after I have done it.

Here's a nice frog who was hanging out where the wrangling was going on:

After a while I got chased in by the rain, but I was about done anyway.
3 PM

Note

Zack wanted to go down in the woods and look around, but I saw all the downed branches and the wind whipping and declined firmly. Meanwhile, we saw one of the porcupines laying in the yard strangely still.

I think he fell out of the linden tree, which had a lot of branches on the ground. Anyway, after a while he pulled himself together and trudged back up the tree. Guess he is ok.
