Brown course at Ward Pound Ridge. Nice social outing, most of us vaccinated, but with masks anyway. Ching-Hua, Matt, Tai and Rocky showed up around 9:45, and bailed me out because I had forgotten to bring cash. Hung out with them for a while, and then the rest of the gang showed up, Peter, Clint, J-J, George n Lyn, Phil. We all went out to do our courses then returned to celebrate George n Lyn's wedding anniversary over cupcakes. At some point Peter had the brilliant idea to go visit Lina and Angelo on the way home, so we did. Obviously the first time we had seen them in over a year. Lina is always prepared for company.
Anyway, the orienteering was more or less fine. A few bobbles, no outrageous walkabouts. Worst was #3 when I was first too high, then too far, then too low, so a little circle until I got it. Hamstrings are very recalcitrant, so I don't move fast. J-J came by at a very sprightly pace between my 1 and 2, and then came whizzing in from another direction when I finally arrived at 2. Saw him a 3rd time when he was heading uphill from the vicinity of my #4, and I wasn't there yet. Also had some company with George and Lyn looking for 4. She was the one who found it first.

I'm afraid cumulative fatigue is setting in. Getting a little harder to psych myself up for this. 6 days to go. Today I tried to avoid looking at the monitor, made it as far as the last 1000.

Out and back at the river with Rhonda. Legs are pretty sore today. Lots of common mergansers along the river, some swimming, some flying. Also a nice broad-winged hawk swooping low across the road as we approached home in the car.
Seeing all the bright blue Bud Light cans along the road made me think I'll bring a bag next time I come. Don't know that I need a grabber. A little bending down is probably good for me.

A spin around my winter series course to check the flags, as I am expecting a customer tomorrow. All in order. Snow is receding, about 50% cover, and that only an inch or less. No impediment to travel. Studded o-shoes are perfect. One fall, pretty hard. I don't fall much, given that I am pretty careful where I put my feet and going pretty slowly anyway. This was the most typical fall for me, one of those where my toe catches the near end of a stick and the other end sticks in the ground, so that as I proceed forward my leg is levered up and I slam forward.
