Running (Easy) 10:00 [2]

Orienteering 1:00:47 [3] 4.8 km (12:40 / km)
spiked:15/15c (injured) shoes: Shays

My legs felt a little better this morning, and with the ibuprofen they were at like 80%. I could still feel the strain in the upper region of the calf, my ankle and knee were tweaked from time to time, and my shins would flare up on the harder surfaces of trails and the one or two roads, but overall it was much better. I got some sweet scratches and I fell flat on my face twice.
As for the course, I bungled controls 10-12 for some reason. At 10 I was in the right place, but on the wrong side of a knee-deep marsh [ :'( my poor shays] at 11 I missed the trail, and on 12 I thought I was on one trail when I was really on another.
Ran into coach lyons two or three times. That was rather embarrassing because the first time was at a control... only I was at the wrong one.

This one was a lot harder for me than Letchworth. The only reason I can think of is the difference in trail density.

Running (Easy) 25:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: New Balance- 769

My legs hurt just as much today. And I allowed myself to be talked into going to practice instead of the meet... bad idea. Coach Klehr said my excuses were a load of crap and I shouldn't make decisions like that. I think I should've tried to race.

Running (Easy) 25:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: New Balance- 769

My legs haven't hurt this much since XC... 8 minute pace was hard.
It's shinsplints up both sides of each leg, ankle soreness, and extremely tight calves that make me wary of running at full strides. I don't know what to do. Competing tomorrow seems unwise, but I'll do whatever I am asked to.

Note

On a lighter note, my Shays came today. They make Kilkennys look and feel like trainers.

Running (Easy) 10:00 [2]

Intervals 7:19 [3] 2.2 km (3:20 / km)
shoes: New Balance- 769

(6x4x2)x2
Only, I missed the first 600 because I was occupied with extricating myself from the partial mummification of my leg. Never go to see the trainer...
was running pretty consistently around my mile pace. That is, 80 second quarters. So then I had to do that 600 after the 200 double-lap relay, but I cramped and wimped out at the 4.

Strides 1:10 [4] 0.4 km (2:55 / km)

4x200 double-lap relay. my team was 1)me 2)alex 3)nate
i sucked.. so nate had a lot of ground to make up.

Note

Coach Klehr is making me race Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.
So that's 1600, 800, 4x8, then 1600(?), 800, 4x8(?), then either steeplechase or 1600 at the His&Hers... all in a few days time
That's a lot of racing for me.

Note
(rest day)

doing nothing today because of my shins and left ankle. i know my ankle is because of steeple, but my shins have only gotten bad since we, as a team, have started half@$$ing stretches. from now on, i'm going to take the time to do it properly, even if the rest of you aren't. i also want to start doing iron crosses and scorpions again, for the fun of it.
