Orienteering race (Oceania Middle) 41:00 [3]
shoes: INOV8 X-Talon 212

Hubled around the very cool course in great gold mining terrain - was quite careful the whole way and managed to only make two smaller mistakes (one where the map was slightly sneaky at the 3rd to last control). Was very happy to have a technically good race - would have been great if I had been able to run but then again I might have made some big mistakes then. Anyway bet all the old Aussie champions from the good old days even though robw almost wheeled my time in on the finish sprint. Thanks to all the organisers for making this event possible - it was great stuff!

Orienteering (Oceania Long) 30:00 [3]
shoes: INOV8 X-Talon 212

The left calf was still sore and stiff - it was raining / pouring - last minute getting the kids to Jean before the race and then the little plastic thing holding the strap of thumb compass broke when in the last box before the start. So I hubled off clinging to my thumb compass - managed to find the 2 first controls before the circumstances got the better off me and I just couldn't manage to relocate as the contour details on top the spur were a lot smaller than they mapped and I just couldn't believe that the little turtle I was standing was actually the index contour with a form line on top - had to huble back and relocate and then when doing stepping stones it all worked out nicely. Did one more control to finish on a better node and then I painfully hubled back... Would have loved to be able race this event properly - the area was so cool

Note
(injured)

The pain is not there all the time any more and not as bad sore limp when walking either.... it might be okay for Saturday - hopefully at least for a jog around in the terrain.
