Road Cycling 6:00:00 [3] 130.0 km (2:46 / km)

Ride to and from TDU at Willunga.
Picked up Stu at Vic Park and we went up Belair Rd (steep one 12% at top), Blackwood, then up the climb & descent to Clarendon. Turned at top of climb out of Clarendon and followed the ridgeline towards McClaren Vale.
My bike started groaning going downhill whilst freewheeling - went to Ozygen circles where Bert, a previous solo 24 hr rider helped me out.
Put some 2nd hand ball bearings in but said it a needed a new hub shell, but gd enough to ride home.

Saw peleton come thru McClaren Vale on first lap and then rode over to Willunga. Grabbed a fingerbun and coke and rode up the hill. Luckily had a break at the 1 km mark, as they were having difficulty putting the 4 legged archway up. Rode to top -watched event on 2 big screens there and peleton come through. Then rode down to sit with friends at 400m mark. Exciting to see Porte ride through quite a bit ahead.
One of last riders did a mono for 100m +.

Then slowly rode down the hill and across to McClaren Vale with the multitudes. I was amazed how many bikes there were - thousands for sure...almost a scarcity of cars. Once we got on the bikepath it was more orderly. When we hit the first traffic light about 30kms there was a pack of about 300 riders waiting for the lights.... and even when we got to South Rd the numbers were the same.

Dropped in on Amber & Sara in daw Park and topped up with water and a banana. Winston av etc back to Greenhill rd..

My Garmin ran out of battery after 25kms - had dome 456m climb by then.
Distance calculated from what Stu had to McClaren Vlae and rest via Google maps..
About 640kms over the last 8 days! Will rest tomo - the legs at least.
