mt bike 4:00:00 [3] 40.0 km (6:00 / km)

Guess at time, as I was out in the 29 degree sun even longer than that.
Taping control sites for mtbo and testing a few tracks for ride ability.
Rode the newish Warrigal track downhill way for first time - was fun except for when I almost went over a cliff.
Got a bit dehydrated...

Stopped on way over to assist an aboriginal guy who fell over and fitted on the bikepath -mainly by putting him in the coma position and calling an ambulance

Bought a "sexy lady" costume from Mad Harrys (gee AS has everything), as directed by my friend Janine. For the mtb bike hill climb up Anzac Hill - a 2 min or so climb & we get penalised 1 min if not dressed up in fancy costume.
Given that its in mid afternoon and likely to be 38 I needed a skimpy outfit.
Said "fits most sizes." and surprisingly it looks ok on me.

mt bike 1:20:00 [3] 27.0 km (2:58 / km)

Frustrating day not being able to get out on bike until 6pm.
No daylight savings here, so dark at 6.30pm.
Lovely evening for it though I mainly road on bike
paths and back roads south towards airport and Ross river. Dropped in and watched BMX nationals on way back - they have a nice course.

Met ranger today to OK control placements - main guy was out of town and present ranger didn't have the aboriginal placements map but said I know you cant put them on those 3 boulders, pointing out the window..so oked everything. Did ask me to put as strong warning in event info re dingos ,,,as several that have pups are growling at walkers.

Also saw boomerang throwing being taught to tourists in the Todd River.
then back to computer.

mt bike 1:38:00 [3] 22.0 km (4:27 / km)

Just to and fro the Telegraph station, returning a longer way to the east.

walk 5:00:00 [3]

Bit sad as I was ultra slow due to knee traipsing thru rocky terrain at TS foot O map. Hard to plan when cant run - hopefully will get a young orienteer from here to test run tomo.
Saw my mtb buddies at the café before I started ...
Saw a perente (lizard), a strange wallaby thing with a striped tail, a dingo, a small lizard, kangaroos ...obv I was moving slowly to see all this.
30 degrees or so.

mt bike 2:00:00 [3] 30.0 km (4:00 / km)

Flew to Alice in time to watch most of the Western Bulldogs historic win (over 50 yrs) in AFL over Sydney.

Then rode to Telegraph station and back and then out to Desert Park to see a free light show - Parrtjima. Had 2 kms of Macdonnel Range lit up and a 20 min revolving display. Also many other displays on the site, from aboriginal artists. Some depicted on big umbrella like structures, others had blown-up caterpillars etc. Rode home in dark.

Another first today. Saw 2 mounted policemen chase a car in the Charles River-bed and catch it and the occupants. A punching bag hanging from a gum tree in the Todd River seemed apt too.

On the flood front - Gawler River has broken its banks and likely to flood Virginia etc downstream. Pt Wakefield Rd was shut and the town isolated.
Rock falls near Inglewood have stopped traffic on NE rd.

Note

Watching the river break its bank on my side and move to halfway across the grass by 2am. Thought I might have to evacuate the car by 6am but it had steadied. Though the roar of a wide, wild rushing river was sort of nice.

gym circuit / class 1:05:00 [3]

Strength for Life class plus 10 mins rowing.
So many vain women and aggro male weight trainers frequent the gym - no wonder my visits are infrequent.

Thursday Sep 29, 2016 #

Note

More wild weather.

SA schools O team has done its best result in yonks - 3 winners in individual long, 4 in honours team.
Actually best result ever = 1990 in which Sus Cas was a team member.
Won 3 relays + 2nd in other; won 2 individual titles plus 2nd in other 2.
Had home terrain advantage then - Jupiter Creek

Note

Could have got out this morning but needed to make house typhoon proof! Mowed front lawn, took bottles to recycler, moved stuff from front porch. Took bikes to be repaired.
Went and saw film Wilderpeople with a friend whilst storm hit. Only 4 of us in cinema. Drove home across eastern suburbs in poring rain
with all traffic lights down ...people were patient!

My.new drain out the back isnt working and some water coming into dining room. No power from 3.48 until sometime tomorrow. ....
Bike Sa annual tour got worst of storm at Melrose with tents squashed ...evacuated to halls etc. Several big power towers bent up that way.
