Note

A bit of token riding as part of bike coaching at a community clinic.
Lee-anne and I did our magic in getting heaps of kids up and riding from scratch. Parents all over the moon.

After O coaching I went to Glenelg on my 29er mt bike & did and out and back to Hallet Cove, then out and back to Henley Beach.
Stopped in on the O event at Glenelg and picked up a map and rode most of the controls - nice evening for it. Also caught up with Manu, Zara & a few others

Bal ride starting at 9am ...so hot. After 5 hrs sleep.
With MS, Janet & Sharon.
Similar first half to last week
Bal - Grasby - Wicks - Oakwood - Swamp to Leslie rd (10kms) ..a different start. Leslie was bloody steep ...15%
then onto Lobethal-Norton rd thru Forest & Basket range and then the final 2.5km climb up to Ashton. I rode this quite well, getting out of granny gear and caught MS & Janet. But looking at my split it was 11.45mins ...I used to do this in under 10mins ...
then Woods Hill rd to top of Greenhill rd and down thru Summertown & Uraidla and up from there before descending (mostly) to Balhannah for rest stop.

Picked up the fresh legs of Gerry (had done short 1st loop) and lost Sharon for 2nd half. Long slog towards Totness and via Nitshske rd and others to Nairne. Then to Brukunga and I made an effort up the last climb and took the KOM. To Woodside - Bal.
Must start these rides earlier as not much fun doing 2nd half in 33+ degrees.

Feeling like an endangered species.
Another roadie lost his life (near Bungonia where I rode about a month ago) on the Audax Sydney - Melbourne 1200km ride/race.

Recovery ride with MS ...as my legs were complaining.
Home - up Norton Summit in a record slow time (partly caused by really strong gully winds in our faces) - ashton - Woods Hill rd to top of Greenhill - Summertown - towards Piccadily detouring UP Gores rd towards mt Lofty (14% climb at top) and then L when rd turned to dirt. Then detoured into Mt Lofty Botanic Gardens where we found a pop up café right above the lake.
MS said coffee was quite gd.

Via "little church" to Uraidla, where a 3rd café has emerged - seems to be owned by pub next door so should do well. Back to Summertown - Woods Hill - Ashton - across to Marble Hill - down Montacute - back to MS's place in Felixstowe where I filled up with water.
Then I rode to Blackfriars at Prospect to a "boutique design fair" where I picked up some xmas gifts in recycled tyres from Buckitt.
Homeward in warm temp.

We did about 850m climb in first 30kms which was a lot.

Cough was again there today when I was climbing.
Also R Achilles is a little painful riding.
And bike is making worrying noises intermittently when descending ...
