MT Bike xc race 2:48:00 [3] 30.0 km (5:36 / km) +455m 5:12 / km

Alice point to point race for those folk not camped out along the Finke River.
Started at golf course - up Sunset Hill - out to Emily Gap - big hike across to behind East side onto cow, dunny and perentie tracks before heading back to Telegraph station finish.

Was really looking forward to this having done few mtb events this year.
Knee had been not too bad yesterday...but the first time I put my foot on the ground it gave way and hurt. I stubbornly continued on...
At the 5 km mark I managed to slip out on a steep downhill corner on the rockiest section (all of Alice is rocky, so saying it was the rockiest paints a picture of jagged teeth facing upwards). Took a dive but managed to roll slightly and land on said L knee, and L hip and collect some bar end in my chest. Much blood from knee and it swelled straight away but not too deep a cut. I was thankful of having a camelback stop rocks hitting my back. Also good as it was 31 degrees.

Wasn't too bad until about the 18km mark when knee complained every time I tried to put any pressure on it, so had to get off (carefully) and walk some quite insignificant inclines. Not happy. Worst its been.

Exploratory afternoon ride from Telegraph station out to eastside & Uloyoona rd and back. Checking out trails fro mtbo & also looking for signs of tomo's mtb course. I did some gnarly tech stuff but so no tapes. (they put them out between 3pm and 7pm.. Quite hot
