mt bike 3:15:00 [3] 47.0 km (4:09 / km)
(injured)

as it was supposed to be 90kph dusty winds this morning so I decided against a roadie ride...but not too windy even by evening. Sometimes the media etc go overboard as there were dire warnings for everyone to close their windows and stay inside.
Went on a mtb ride from home over to Dry Creek trails and explored the numerous, relatively new illegal handbuilt trail above on the north side.
Someone has worked very hard here but I wish they were a little nicer in supplying more contourish trails. Many downhill ones with over the 20m cliff penalties for failing to keep the line! Then went west into the suburbs and rode around the gepps Cross velodrome, Foresteres Forest and the hockey complex. Stopped in to take a photo of my plaque, amongst about 30 other women from different sports, which is just inside the hockey complex. Was put there in the 1990's for some reason. Then back up the normal Dry Creek trails and home.
'
Was 30 degrees so i got very thirsty and refilled my bottle from inside a doggy run as i couldnt find a tap in the kids playground.
Managed to snag yet another injury - when i stopped on one of my downhill descents my L leg got caught on my seatpost for quite awhile and the extra strain resulted in my R calf yelping considerably.

mt bike 1:20:00 [3] 15.0 km (5:20 / km)
(injured)

Chalks, Mt Crawford again...
Putting out some plate controls and putting pink tape on 20 of the permanent O controls as they are impossible to see being pine posts in pine forest or native bush!! Very annoying ...i had complained about this 2 years ago
Useless to have such courses if they just frustrate kids.
Found a nice well defined motor bike track in a good area to make it useful on my newly set courses - will mark on map.
Hip / back hurt lots afterwards.

MTBO 1:47:00 [3] 29.0 km (3:41 / km) +155m 3:36 / km

SA Mtbo Champs - I was excited about doing my 1st real course for 9 months.
Despite pre-planning the 1st 9 controls whilst waiting I still managed to fluff up. Got 1 ok & took the best route choice there but then my mapboard came loose so I lost a little time sorting that and hurried on...straight to no 12..then to 3 and so forth. In my defence the 1 in the 12 was hidden in the map detail but there were obvious lines going from 1-2-3...and I had pre-planned going to the correct 2. Only when i got near 9 and looked at the routes from 9-10-11-12 did I realise my error!
I generally navigated quite well though found I wasnt looking at the map enough as my mind was wandering. Knee started sore & got worse due to some sandy tracks and faster speed than what I have been doing.
Though my riding speed was slower than 1 guy that i normally ride away from.
Got tired over last couple of kms.
After many hassles re course lengths, with non experienced course setter & controller I was very happy that the longer ones were used & turned out pretty right. One slip up was that they failed to put the code numbers next to each control - put them off to the side like foot O.
David Couche won our course with 1 hr 28mins ...but he is much faster & fitter than me & was riding a CX bike.

mt bike 1:00:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

Ride around Chalks area checking control sites for O and boardwalk for mtb for upcoming camp. felt very tired & dehydrated.
