Bike 1:17:49 [3] 26.7 km (2:55 / km) +457m 2:41 / km

Got smashied in the hills by hamish this morning on ride from my place to yolla and return via village lane. I felt flatter than ABs stomach. Bit drizzly out and head wind return from yolla, great morning and had a ball.
6 PM

exercise circuit 1:00:00 [4]

First KAW training for a couple of weeks and pretty solid hit out. Body exercises and running for most of the night.
7 PM

Field Hockey 1:10:00 [3] 7.45 km (9:24 / km)

From KAW straight up to hockey and played 3s. Put the watch on to get an idea of what sort of distance I would do. First time I have done this and was a bit surprised with 7k in a 3s match. Won 4-2, all good run training as standard not too good.

3 PM

Field Hockey 1:10:00 [1]

Umpire a 1s match as they were short. Reasonable tempo game, but standard of top level hockey is struggling a bit at the minute.

ahr:136 max:164

Finished umpiring and whilst waiting for Nick to play headed off on run. Did round Burnie track from Hockey centre. Great evening for a run and felt good for the journey.

ahr:136 max:202

Evening hill session with Cameron. Surf Club to goat track, 5 x 1 minute efforts with walk return recovery, did hard efforts to try and hurt camo a bit. Seemed to slow him down a bit on the run up to top of Somerset, then down to spew hill and 5 x efforts here as well. The big guy recovered and watched his bum on all 5 efforts - couldn't get close. Slow return jog to surf club.

MTB 50:00 [3]

Went with nick and Jo to the new mtb track at penguin. Started with a specky crash of the wall, not to much damage but gave the others a laugh. Track seems very good and look forward to getting back.

2 PM

Paddle 56:00 [3] 6.5 km (8:37 / km)

Very enjoyable paddle with Jo on the Cam. First time back in the red boat for a long time, felt slow compared to the ski.

5 AM

Trek 4:11:06 [4] 13.3 km (18:53 / km)

Up after short shut eye and started trek to Mt Hazleton in windy and wet conditions. Track started to go vertical after about 3 km and on top of the first ridge we were looking at the route to Mt Hazleton when the mist cleared and the outline came into view which showed it was a steep climb on a peak that seemed to rise out of know where. It was very impressive sight in that light. Climbed to the top and were met with one of the most impressive range views seen for a while. Also climbed Woody Peak - suggest there have been very few, if any people up here. Time constraints meant we headed back to where we left the bikes. Really hope to get back and climb a few other peaks. Super impressive views, Norfolk Range a definite winner. Legs felt good and climbed better than I have for a while.
11 AM

MTB 3:46:20 [4] 48.2 km (4:42 / km)

Ride back out to Arthur River a bit of a drag into a head wind with tired bodies, but good practice. Apart from the first 4km it was not to technical. Felt strong all the way and apart from the standard sore bum did not have to many problems.
Up on Friday at 6.30am, worked all day then training and return home on a couple of hours sleep was good practice. Highlife was definitely the trek and views. Good hit out.

Friday Jun 7, 2013 #

9 PM

MTB 5:42:07 [4] 52.04 km (6:34 / km)

Start of overnight hit out in the Arthur river area was a ride from Arthur River to Balfour then up to the start of the Norfolk Range. 25km gravel road start then onto very wet and rocky 4wd tracks. Lots of water crossing meant for wet and cold feet. First Long ride on the 29er and was super impressed. Felt good for the journey. After stopping at 3am put up the new tent and had a little shut eye. Tent not so big but vestibules can be used, Steve tried out and was ok except for water running down his neck. Hamish very good at snoring.
