Bike 55:00 [3] 22.0 km (2:30 / km) +179m 2:24 / km

Cruisy flat ride this morning. Park to round hill - burnie high and return. Nothing to special, just ticking the legs over.

Run 2:18:35 [4] 14.5 km (9:33 / km) +879m 7:20 / km

Run with AB in Dial range, from carpark up Montgomery, then Dial and Gnomen with return loop of Montgomery. Not sure of iPhone reception in the area as I recorded only 13km and 879m climb while AB recorded 16km and 1200m climb - whatever it was, it was tough hit out. Struggled up the climbs but moved ok on flats and downhill. Tacked onto AB on way back down for quick return trip before Montgomery second time. AB running very well - ran the whole circuit plus a few loops to come back for me!

MTB 45:00 [3] 10.0 km (4:30 / km) +185m 4:07 / km

Quick mtb ride at reservoir drive. Bit of climbing in very slippery conditions was good for bike handling practice.

Bike 1:12:59 [4] 29.2 km (2:30 / km) +373m 2:21 / km

Ride from Somerset to Burnie park to meet up with the others - only 1 other out today - apparantly round the bay caused some damage, including broken colarbone to Lindsay! From park did short fernglade - stowport hill loop and then back to somerset. Had a dip up fernglade and brought best time back to 12.54. Need to knock another minute off to get to the 12 minute aim.

exercise circuit 1:00:00 [4]

Solid little indoor session at KAW. Starting to feel a little stronger I think, very warm indoors and sweated heaps.

Trek 2:25:17 [3] 16.0 km (9:05 / km) +604m 7:38 / km

Run / Trek with Hamish from Sisters Beach to Cathedral hill just out of Rocky Cape on inland track and return via coast. Trekked up the bigger hills and ran most of the rest, becks moved well. Managed to dodge most of the rain only getting hit by a couple of squalls. First pack run since Geo sorted me out, legs and groins a bit tender afterwards. Climbing around the rocks on coast return route brought back a few good memories from xpd.
11 AM

Run 1:05:00 [3] 10.0 km (6:30 / km)

Home from Sisters, quick shower then off to Burnie Ten. Ran the race with Nick and managed to sneak home in hour and five or so. Road did no favours to already sore legs. Picked the right son to run with this year as Camo come home in 41.30ish - reckons he wants to break 40 minutes next year.......think he will need to find a new training partner. Good to see a big entry list and lots of supporters.

Full on boxing session at KAW - in the gym, very fatigued by the end of the hour, not much down time last night which was good.

Bike 51:25 [4] 24.2 km (2:07 / km) +341m 1:59 / km

Morning ride that turned into a time trial to try and beat a time from emu river lights to howth roaundabout and return. Six out and did short turns into the wind on the way out and even shorter turns on the way back. Fell off a about crustys, Average speed for the 16km leg was 36. Good hit out, funny the difference that 5kmh makes. Averaged 32 for freycinet ride over 50km with no drafting, but stuggled when averaging 36 with a group???
6 PM

Walk 1:00:00 [2]

Walk in and around frenchs reserve with Jo and Nick. Nice evening out.

8 AM

Bike race 1:09:00 [5] 35.0 km (1:58 / km)

Leg 2, Day 2 Freycinet Challenge. Road bike, legs felt ok after day one and again felt comfortable to average 30 plus for the trip. Like day 1 ride the road ride is not over exciting.
10 AM

MTB race 1:17:00 [5] 20.0 km (3:51 / km)

Leg 3, day 2 Freycinet Challenge. Again back to back bike legs so off the roadie and onto the mtb for struggleville ride. Felt better on the the mtb for this leg but probably the easier direction. Loved the downhill section on the way home. Nice to finish.

At the end of the day all my training has been on the road bike and that's where I felt most comfortable and got the best results. Enjoyed competing and watching AB carve up the course. Shows how much work the muppet had done that both his mtb legs were quicker than mine and was not to far behind on the road rides and he was do ing it as an individual!

Now to work on my mtb, run and paddle.............

10 AM

Bike race 1:40:00 [5] 52.1 km (1:55 / km)

Leg 3, day 1 of freycinet challenge. Road ride good run and paddle from John put me a bit closer to the front than used to, headed out with aim of pushing all the way without the usual " rest spots" felt good for the ride and was able to push when I felt myself slowing so ended up with average of around 33kph and quickest ride ever done on this leg by about 25 minutes.
12 PM

MTB race 1:25:00 [5] 20.0 km (4:15 / km)

Leg 4, day 1 Freycinet Challenge. Back to back bike legs - off the roadie and onto the mtb. Quick summary is that I got what I deserved, two mtb rides since Geo does not cut the mustard so dawdled around the course, hated the climbs, loved the down hill and struggled to move on the flatter sections. Had pushed hard on the road ride and just had no legs......... Disappointing but no excuses.

Bike 1:01:09 [3] 25.0 km (2:27 / km) +329m 2:18 / km

exercise circuit 1:00:00 [5]

KAW session , what a difference a few hours make......and some food. Looked back at why i was so buggered this morning and realised had not eaten much at all over last couple of days. Felt much better at kaw, very tough session in the burnie park - pushed hard as i could. Took Nick along for a run, i am sure he will be very sore in the morning.
