Race race (24 hour rogaine) 22:30:00 [5] 50.0 km (27:00 / km)

24 hour rogaine at hamilton over the weekend. Up at 5.15am for drive to Hamilton and it pissed down all the way. Set up the tent and marked out 3
loops that we hoped to do. Headed off in very wet conditions at 12pm and got 5 minutes down the track before AB asked if I had the clue sheet - F@#K me i had left this and the score card sitting in the car (did the same thing at the keen race) so had to go back and get it. Found the first contol after a litttle time then with some good nav proceeded to get all others on the 1st loop. AB did most of the nav but i was happy to be able to help with some.Got back to the hash house, grabbed some tea, water and a change of clothes and headed out again (pack a fair bit heavier), again with some good nav we ticked off the points and added 3 additional ones to the planned route. We missed one (the only one for the race) that we couldnt find in the mist and fog and continued on to the next which also took a bit of finding but the ay-ups helped beutifully, it was about then that i bonked big time, became extremely tired, spewed and kicked every rock on the ground - must have been amusing to watch! We pulled stumps at about 2.30 and layed under a tree until dawn (about 5am), got up very cold and continued on our way, the first couple of hours went along well but i gradually become more and more fatigued, we were still hitting all the controls thanks to ABs nav cause i was as useful as..... Plotted our route home and got back at 10.40 am. It was not much use going after any more as i was that slow we wouldnt have made it!
Overall for me the first 13-14 hours were good the balance was average at best, AB was as strong as ever and dragged me around well. Feet held up very well but was not so happy with the chaffing or sore groins. Very Long slow drive home, but enjoyable time and very solid hit out on some great country. Will try and fit a couple of 24hour sessions in between now and XPD.

Paddle 45:00 [3] 5.0 km (9:00 / km)

Paddle from surf club up the cam and return at steady pace, then caught a few runners in. Great morning - pity no wave.

Paddle 45:00 [4]

Have been conned to Row in a surf boat challenge so we went out and did some efforts. Each club must have a politician or mayor in the boat - we have steve kons. Long time since I have been in the surf boat but enjoyed the change, although the 50 stroke efforts were a bit rusty, was buggered at finish.
