Mountain Biking 2:00:00 [3] 28.0 km (4:17 / km) +500m 3:56 / km

CNC to Rundle Riverside and back. This trail is still very bumpy with a 29er. Although, I did float very nicely over the more technical downhill sections and it climbs better too.

I like when other log the workout before me. Copy and paste is so easy: Took the bus up to Sunshine Meadows with Revy, C-Bass and CO, then did a great run that took us on some really nice less-travelled trails to Lake Eohippus where we had a little lunch break, then a super scenic run along the Ramparts, then down the Healy Pass trail. Loved it.

Carbon struggled with a stitch until the last 6km when she started feeling great. Typical.

Mountain Biking 45:00 [1]

A fun little spin on Horseshoe with Nicki and Suzy. Poor Suzy is still hurting from Fat Dog.

Mountain Biking 1:50:00 [3] 15.0 km (7:20 / km) +650m 6:02 / km

Another fun ride with C-Bass, Revy and CO. It was slick in spots but I still had pretty good grip most of the time. I really like my new bike.

Mountain Biking 2:00:00 [3]

A very fun time with Revy, C-Bass and CO. Rode better today than yesterday. One of the chutes checked off my list now. Rode it twice. The second time at a fairly fast speed. Started to head for another obsticle but it started raining hard so I will leave it for the weekend.

Mountain Biking 45:00 [1]

Went to CNC with the idea of practicing my problem areas (steep tight and technical downhill switchbacks). I had several places in mind. It was a very disappointing night as I bailed out in all of them. I'm feeling totally down about my riding. There are two main things going on: 1) Mentally I wuz out 2) Mentally I wuz out. Maybe there is a # 3) Mentally I wuz out.

How am I going to learn if I don't go for it?

Note

Yay, I got in on a Jumps and Drops clinic in town! And I also got in on RMCC's fall program which essentially is a women's group ride with coaching. Fun, fun!

Mountain Biking 1:08:00 [3] 16.0 km (4:15 / km) +300m 3:53 / km

The beginning of this ride was kind of funny as Mike was trying to recall what he rode yesterday. We spent some time on trails not meant for biking and climbed up a really steep and bush-whacky hill before fining a trail that eventually led us right. After that the speed picked up and the ride was flowy. I liked the "Toe" as it had a more old school single track trail.

Running (Road) 50:00 [3]

Urgh, I forgot how rough it is to run on the road, although it was quite pretty along the river. This was the first time in over two years that I have gotten away for a lunch break run.

Mountain Biking 2:00:00 [2]

Tried to session some switchbacks on the highline. Didn't really notice any improvements otjer than looking ahead more. I'm still slow. When CO left to go for a ride with someone else, I did two more repeats and then headed home.

I wanted to ride more so I tried to find someone, but no luck. So I went back to the highline and rode the normal climb just after it rained. It was slick, but I made it all. Then I headed off towards the switchbacks again and rose all technical spots but one. Once back on the dpwnhill, again I was slow, but focusing on looking ahead helps the balance.

Not a very fun day as riding alone is crappy.

Mountain Biking 3:00:00 [1]

Switchback skills session on Topp Notch in Banff with RMCC (Rundle Mountain Cycle Club). Yes, I'm one of them now.

Good instructor who had a really good sense of what needed to be done. She demonstrated well and was able to provide accurate and useful feedback.

I now have a really good sense of where I go wrong and what I need to practice. What I need to do is go out and session a spot over and over to start making improvements.

As suspected, I am better going up than going down.

Running (Trail) 54:00 [3] 8.5 km (6:21 / km) +350m 5:16 / km

A run with Myka and CO on the Montaine loop. We dropped down a little lower than usual which made it a little longer with more elevation than the 'normal' loop.

Hike/Scramble 3:30:00 [1] +1000m

A very lovely hike with the Clark clan up and around Yamnuska. The kids, 8 and 10) are really impressive. The loop had some technical sections where it is difficult to get through, including ine section that has a chain you can hold on to as well as a long section of steep scree. Big day for them! Total time out was 5.5hrs, but we took many mini breaks along the way as well as two sit down rests.

Mountain Biking 1:40:00 [3] 20.0 km (5:00 / km) +700m 4:15 / km

A ride at CNC after some trail maintenance. It started raining half the way through the ride and became a bit slick. Not my favorite type of riding. I become a chicken.

Hike/Scramble (Trail) 6:50:00 [3] 36.0 km (11:23 / km) +1900m 9:01 / km

A run and hike on Northover Ridge. I have deducted 30 minutes for stops. Who does an outing like this without a little sitdown to enjoy the views? We started with a big group whith a bunch of people on a mission to train. CO, Little Fish and I were just out to enjoy the loop. The first two hours consisted of steady, and pretty fast, running before we started the steeper climbing. After that we ran a few flatter sections leading up to the ridge. I walked the legth of the ridge as I wanted plenty of time to look around. Then I took it extremely easy on the steeper downhill section just off the ridge as my sprained ankle really didn't like what we were up to. CO, Little Fish and I decided on a couple of breaks along the way, including a sitdown break to enjoy the view and see the rest of the group run below us. On the way back around the Upper Kananaskis we ran the longer way around because we forgot where we parked. Ooops. The last few km were rough on the foot, but I think it should recover quickly. I'll stick to biking for a while. Thanks CO and Little Fish for the great company.

Mountain Biking 2:45:00 [3]

Wow, what an AWESOME ride. I had such a great time and my bike rode so increadibly well. A few adjustments made a huge difference. I rode up technical spots that I have never cleared before and I'm also more confident going down, even if I'm not all that good at the downhills. The bigger wheels really just keep the momentum going longer and they roll over stuff so much easier without loosing traction. We started with a few loops on trails at the Nordic Centre and then met up with Maz, Mel and Carrie for the Highline Trail. A lot of high HR climbing and I felt good.

Another setting change today made the ride even better. Fork at 50psi (down from 70). Now the only challenge is the wide bar.

We finished with a swim at Quarry Lake, brrrrr.
