Note

A long drive back to Calgary listening to the 80's channel. Man, there was some really bad music in the 80's!!! Yikes, what were we thinking?!

Backcountry Skiing 5:30:00 [3] +945m

The last day of the trip we headed up to an area called Jasmin. It was still very cold out but the sun made a huge difference from the day before. We found a good section off the top of the ridge that we lapped a number of times. Started to feel a little better on the skis, but I still think I might get an AT setup for some of these harder days. The snow was deep and heavy and I ended up cheating and doing parallel turns quite a bit.

It was a really fun trip and it was so much fun that Courtney came out!

Backcountry Skiing 5:30:00 [3] +960m

We headed out on our skis despite a pretty cold day. We headed up to an area called Ruby Basin. A lot of climbing for very few sections of good runs. At the top the terrain was pretty wind hammered. A bit tough to ski, but we found another short run further down that was pretty nice. We lapped it a couple of times before we got too cold and headed back down. Several people had skin problems and fund it hard to keep climbing. The total time was 5.5 hrs but actual workout time was less than that.

Valhalla Touring Lodge trip with a bunch of people. Took a cat up to the lodge and got one run in up to Emerald. It felt quite strange to be on the tele gear again, carrying a heavier pack. Fun though.
