Spinning 2:13:00 [3]

Had a good spin this morning. E4 and MAP feeling a tiny bit better as we go along. E3 is feeling really good and I consistently hold mid to upper zone.
3 PM

Kayak Ergo 36:00 [3]

Some E2 and E3 work. Increased the tension on the kayak ergo by .5 and feel quite the difference. Should do me good though.

Running (Road Run) 1:35:00 [2] 16.81 km (5:39 / km) +300m 5:11 / km
ahr:144 shoes:

Ran out along the river against a pretty strong wind. It was hard to keep the speed up. Once at Edworthy, I ran around on the slippery trails in there, and then finally back along the river for a better run back. Prescribed workout was 15 min at <10.5 and 80 minutes at 11.2 km/hr. My average was about 10.6 km/hr so I think in the end I was a bit slower that desired. Might have to stay away from slippery trails to keep the speed up better.

Kayak Ergo 10:00 [2]

A spin on the kayak erg in combo with the run.

Weights/Strength 45:00 [3]

Strength routine. Getting a little stronger I think. Noticing that some of the work comes easier. Feels good when you actually notice your progression.

Running (Indoor Track) 45:00 [2] 8.73 km (5:09 / km)

Did my lunch run in the morning before heading to work. Didn't bother with my gym as I was afraid of getting kicked off again, so went to the indoor track at the Talisman. Good run and no one was bitching at me!

Spinning 2:10:00 [3]

Spin class. A good but tough one. Having some trouble staying in E4 and MAP in the second half of the class. Felling like the base is coming along well though. My E3 is feeling comfortable. Even though I don't feel done with skiing yet, I also can't wait to ride outside.

Weights/Strength 45:00 [3]

Weight routine. The gym was packed today which is a bad sign (even though it is also a good sign). It's a tiny one room gym with only 3 treadmills, some dumbbells and a couple of weight machines. I'm not all that interested in sticking to the 20 minute time limit when in there, as it doesn't fit in with my training plan too well.
5 PM

Note

I jinxed my evening run today when I complained earlier in the day about too many people in the gym. With 15 minutes left of my run a lady came up and declared that I had run too long and that it was time to let someone else use the treadmill. I looked around the gym and saw 4 people in total (3 on treadmills and one confronting me on the treadmill). My answer back to the woman was that there is only a time limit during peaks and that 4 people in the gym doesn’t make a peak. Not the right answer it appeared. Confrontation turned to uncomfortable and I turned the treadmill off and stopped dead (which hurts a little when you are running relatively quickly). Once off, the woman proceeds towards the elliptical saying that this was not the way she wanted it……on, man, I’m glad I’m not married to her!!! In the end she walks back to the treadmill and I leave the gym (boiling mad because my workout was wrecked – and it was a good one where I was holding my fastest speed for the longest so far). I marched up to my desk and sent an e-mail to Health and Wellness to get some clarifications on when I’m allowed to complete a full workout (and not just a warm-up, which is all the 20 min time limit would allow).

Can’t wait for the cold snap to go away so that I can run outside again

Running (Treadmill) 39:00 [3]
shoes:

Felt really good throughout this run. Getting used to the higher speeds. Too bad I got kicked off the treadmill again. Grrrr.
7 PM

Kayak Ergo 27:00 [2]

A little paddle in the basement.

Running (Road Run) 45:00 [2] 7.52 km (5:59 / km)
ahr:132 shoes:

Not the best run today as it was pretty slippery and windy out. The fresh dusting made it hard to push off and I was all over the place trying to keep my target speed, which in the end didn't quite work out. Too bad we are having another cold snap. It was good for a couple of days where we could actually enjoy running outside. I guess the treadmill will have to do for a few more days.

Running (Road Run) 40:00 [2] 6.87 km (5:49 / km)
ahr:144 shoes:

The evening run was better than my lunch run. Less windy and not as slippery. Although road running really is not as much fun as trail running. Can't wait for some trail running to start up.
5 PM

Spinning 52:00 [2]

E2 spin as a brick with the run. Felt like a good flush for the legs. Some E3 work thrown in which felt pretty good. Had some energy from the run to help me out.
