Mountain Biking race 6:11:00 [3] 73.15 km (5:04 / km)

Salty Dog mountain bike race in Salmon Arm.

A beautiful day with perfect weather. The course was quite fun and to me unusual for a mountain bike course. No flat sections whatsoever – you were either going up or going down. Also a lot more technical down hilling than I have seen in other mountain bike races, but maybe that is common out west. I had a steady and good race and took advantage of the climbs where I managed to pass lots of people. I felt like the climbs were where I got my rest as the technical downs were fast, rough and required lots of maneuvering and focus. In my last lap I had a big bonk and felt pretty awful , but I felt great cardio wise and my legs held up well too. Also ended up with a really scary thing where I couldn’t breathe at the end of the last lap and after the race. Took me a good hour to recover from that. Thanks Bart for the coke and grapes at the finish line. It totally helped me recover! I managed to ride 7 laps. I have no idea where that would put me in any of the standings.

Running (Road) 45:00 [3]

Had a good run this morning. Kind of woke up and got some good speed which is unusual for me that early in the day. Also felt super light to run without a pack on.
6 PM

Kayak Ergo 1:30:00 [3]

Paddle in basement. Thankfully we heard today that the ice has broken on the pond so we will be outside next week.

Weights/Strength 45:00 [3]

Attempted my program from home this morning. Worked okay, but couldn't do a couple of the sets. Had to replace them with other things. I'm super tired this week. Just doesn't seem like I'm getting enough sleep.

Running (Trail) 30:00 [3]
shoes: XA Pro Ultra 2_1

A run right after the bike ride. Had a heavier pack on tonight and noticed that my speed slowed a bit. Good to start getting used to more weight.
6 PM

Mountain Biking 2:00:00 [3] 28.0 km (4:17 / km)

Evening mountain bike ride. Some good climbs and windy flat sections. I put my Bontrager tires on and the bike rolls much easier now. Over 1lbs lighter than the Nevegals.

Easy lunch run. The weather is finally awesome!!!! So nice to be able to go outside in shorts and t-shirt.

Kayak Ergo 1:10:00 [3]

This was supposed to be a 2 hr paddle outside but we arrived at the paddling club only to discover that our pond was still covered in ice. Bummer! Looks like it should thaw within a few days though. We are hopeful that we will be good to go next week. Meantime there is always the ergo...although we can only paddle one at a time so we had to cut our sessions a little shorter.
