Running (Trail) 45:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:38 / km)

Run with my sister on some cool trails near my parent's place. My sister hadn't run for a while so we kept the run a bit short. I'll go back from more trails tomorrow for sure. There might be some orienteering stuff here too. Will look into that tomorrow.

Note

I will have a couple of days off now as I'm off to Europe. I'm guessing that will be good for healing everything a little more. I'm so eager to get going on some big days again. Have a few planned in Sweden so I just have to be a little patient.

Note

Work messed up my lunch rehab plans today, so will have to fit that it tonight. Just too busy setting everything up for my vacation. Just one more sleep and then I'm off to old Sweden to see my family (and to play on the road bikes with dad and kayak and run with my sister - whoo hooo - it will be like a mini training camp).

Weights/Strength 40:00 [3]

Strength session with a few things cut out to baby the IT band until I see my physio tonight. Still great weather for Tasmania training. Pouring rain and not all that warm, high of 11C! It will be good for the bike ride tonight.

Road Biking 1:30:00 [3]

8C, pouring rain and wind. Perfect Tassie training weather! Had a fairly good ride despite the nasty weather. In fact, It was a great evening to figure out what to wear and what not to wear. I will need something to keep my hands warmer. Dish gloves are too cold, even when pulled over something a bit warmer they have a cooling effect....and look down right nasty :). Feet got wet and cold as well so I might try my sealskin socks over a think pair of woolies.

Running 25:00 [3]

A bit of an unsuccessful run as my left IT band started hurting. Had to cut the run short. Urgh, this hasn't happened in a very long time and it has me totally bummed out. Wonder if I have been running too many hills lately. Back to physio a.s.a.p.
12 PM

Yoga 30:00 [3]

Lots of rolling and Grafton on my left ITB as it seem to have flared up from a bunch of hilly running.
6 PM

Paddle 2:00:00 [3]

Paddle at 80% stroke rate with 3 x 10 minutes at 90%. Another good night - especially as we could try some cooler weather gear. It rained a little on and off and stayed around 10C.

Note

On the weekend I picked up some of those sleeping pills that Bash had a discussion going about on her page. I only got 5 in total. I'm planning on using them on the flight to Australia and maybe the night before the race if I have trouble sleeping. I tried half a pill last night and it seemed to work great. Fell a sleep with ease and felt great when I woke up. No drowsiness and no apparent side effects (apparently I was snoring though which I usually don't do). I will try the other half on my flight to Sweden this weekend to see if I can sleep on a flight (which I have never been able to do before).

Weights/Strength 45:00 [3]

My usual routine as well as a few physio prescribed things. I have discovered that paddling gets my IT bands a little sore as I have trouble using the glutes when pushing off in the boat and thus I have added a bunch of IT related work into my strength program again. Just to be on the safe side.
12 PM

Yoga 30:00 [3]

Awesome session today. Got some of the sore spots totally worked with rolling, yoga and stretches. This really isn't training though so I should probably change the yoga and stretching to just notes so that the time isn't reflected in my actual training hours.

Running (Trail) 1:15:00 [3]

had a great run tonight. Felt zippy even on the climbs.
