Note

My hours are not quite the same as Bart's hours even though we had the same runs each day. Each longer day was about 9-9.5hrs in total and I have deducted an hour to an hour and a half for food breaks. I'm guessing Bart only count the climbs as workouts, but I feel that there is some work involved in skiing down as well. At least that is what my legs are telling me:) Give or take on my time as it might not be fully accurate.

A perfect birthday full of skiing! The long run down Bavarian and the shorter Oasis were my favorites of the day. Also skied Renette's Rib, Cruiser and Hidden Lake. The final climb of the day had me pretty tired. Didn't manage to keep my usual pace as my feet were a bit achy. Sun came out at times of today again so we pretty much had the perfect ski week! It was the first trip I have been on that has been guided and I really felt that it added positively to the trip. We were able to go to places I think we may otherwise not have made it to and at times we were able to avoid slopes that were not in great shapes thanks to the guide's knowledge. They certainly added a layer of safety as well with their knowledge of the area and snow conditions. The group did fantastic and everyone skied so well! Great, great week!

Today we saw a change in the weather and some clouds moved it. My skiing today was not that great. I had a bit of trouble with the visibility but I also became sloppy in the technique (at least in the little technique that I have). We skied East Campion Bowl, Runway 49 (very cool run) and Phantom Col. I did enjoy all the climbs even though my skiing was not that great. On the way back I tried to catch up to Mike who was setting a good pace up front, but didn't manage to fully close in on him. Fun times!

Another stunning day where my favorite run ended up being the last run of the day, Espresso. While climbing up to it I was a bit intimidated by the terrain and the consequence that would follow a slide. I knew that the conditions were quite stable but I still couldn't help looking down the steep rolls on the way up. Once up at the peak the run looked less intimidating as we were looking down a different direction. The ski down was sweet! A couple of steep pitches with amazing snow. Great feeling. Looking back at the run from across the valley on the way back to the lodge made it look like something taken out of a ski magazine.

More sunshine!!! What a week so far. The weather has been stunning and the conditions quite stable which has allowed us to ski some steeps that had not thought we would be able to ski. My favorite of today was Pink. Nice fun run. We also skied Wolverine, Marten and Gainer. The climb up from valley bottom was really fun. Especially the second half when the guide let us climb up on our own and we could find our own rhythm. I love some good climbing. I'm surprised as to how good I feel climbing despite the lower volume of training since December.
