Running (Trail) 1:42:00 [2] 14.0 km (7:17 / km) +240m 6:43 / km
shoes:

Had a little taste of what Bash and Bent have been describing lately: snow covered ice. We ran on trails from Edworthy Park to COP and ran around the COP trail system a bit. Quite a few short climbs and uneven frozen ice that had been covered with a few centimeters of snow overnight had us running a bit slower than usual. I actually like getting I'm heavier than last winter as well. Hopefully that will change now that we are increasing our activity output. I loved the COP trails. Really nice to have a new option for our city running. It wasn't until very recently that I found out that you can use these trails without paying.

Cross Country Skiing 2:45:00 [1]

Our plan today was to take a lesson and CNC followed by a long ski, but it became a little modified as the weather just kept getting warmer and warmer. We had our 90 minute lesson which was awesome. I really feel that I'm getting a handle of the glide and with the instructors help, I'm in the process of correcting the timing of my poling which is a bit off when I try to go fast. After the lesson we spend some time going back and fourth in the track, practicing what we had learned, but eventually the conditions got too frustrating and even though we had a bunch of really gooey wax on our skis, it was hard to prevent back slipping. We cut the day shorter as planned and headed back to Calgary. This was a bit unfortunate as we had planned to go for dinner in Canmore with Lucy, but with about 5hrs to spare and no gear to go an do another activity we decided to go back home and get some stuff done. Sorry Lucy!

Lesson learned: always pack additional sports gear in the car as you never know what you will end up needing!

Running hills 1:10:00 [3] 8.84 km (7:55 / km) +552m 6:02 / km
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

12 repeats of the curling club hill, plus warm-up and cool-down jog. I had planned on doing the stairs but it was quite busy so instead I ran up the hill and down the stairs in a loop. I would have to do 8 more to be in Nicki's leauge! Didn't have it in me tonight as hunger was setting in.

Fun night full of fartlek. A bunch of team based drills with some sets of core on the mat thrown in. Not quite 2 hrs tonight.

Running (Road) 1:50:00 [3] 18.0 km (6:07 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

Road run home from work. This time I found a more efficient route and managed to get home a bit quicker. I kept the pace slow but steady so that I can get my body used to the longer runs again. It was sunny and warm out when I left, but it cooled down quite quickly and I had to put another layer on. Nice to come home from work relatively early with the training already accomplished.

Spinning 2:10:00 [4]

High intensity class tonight with 22 minutest in MAP. On paper the workout looked harder than it felt like. Held my watts well throughout the class. Wish all nights felt that good.

Running 1:02:00 [3] 11.6 km (5:21 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

Ahhh, new shoes and my toes feel good again! Ran at my prescribed 11.2km/hr but had a few minutes here and there where I went a little too quickly. I felt energetic tonight. Perhaps it was the cereal that I had before the run. I could eat cereal and milk every meal of the day!
