Orienteering 1:08:27 [3] 10.92 km (6:16 / km) +317m 5:28 / km

JEC Long.

Enjoyed that. Rough and tough but some really nice sections too. Got caught in some windblow early on which was frustrating but after than got into a decent rhythm. Ran with Will for most of it from 8 onwards, except I kept messing up and re-catching him. Ribs felt good! Cracking weekend.

Orienteering 34:35 [4] 6.48 km (5:20 / km) +144m 4:48 / km

JEC Relay spectator mass start race.

Some very very bad orienteering going on but it was good fun. Managed to eventually get onto the back of Nixon and Will Rigg near the end thanks to a good routechoice on the long leg then enjoyed some slow tactical jogging for a few controls before Nixon cocked up and I put the boot in. Bashed the scab on my nose off on a branch in the process so may have set that back a bit. Still not feeling very good in my chest, hard to tell what is the ribs and what is the end of the cold.

Running 15:47 [1] 2.13 km (7:25 / km) +43m 6:44 / km

Easy jog with Nixon and Doug after.

Drove around to Luss and did some FRA recceing. Lovely mix of sunshine and showers, epic views! Need to come and run in the hills again. Legs felt very tired.

Running (Road) 21:21 [3] 5.58 km (3:50 / km) +14m 3:47 / km

Got out of work slightly early and cycled hard to catch the train to Stirling. Then ran quite hard to the uni for JEC. Arrived at the start just after the maps and SI boxes had left but they kindly brought them back for me.

Orienteering (Sprint) 14:38 [4] 3.38 km (4:20 / km) +36m 4:06 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (Blue/Red)

JEC Sprint.

Felt more out of practice than I thought I would, though my preparation probably didn't help. Messed up in the woods then wasn't very smooth in the buidings, struggling to see what was/wasn't crossable green. Generally just felt rushed and like I didn't have enough time for my processes. Also mispunched near the end, nailed it. Worth the trip though. Lungs not really ready to run hard yet.

Running 7:05 [1] 1.38 km (5:08 / km) +30m 4:37 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (Blue/Red)

Collected in some tapes for GG.

Starting to feel almost better from the cold now. It only just occurred to me that it was probably freshers flu. Cold weather is starting to kick in again and making my throat feel crap in the morning like it did when we first moved here...
7 AM

Running (Terrain/Soft) 37:36 [2] 8.24 km (4:34 / km) +12m 4:32 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 16 #4 (White)

Haries morning run again, this time with James Dunn and a ginger guy with a weird name I've forgotten. Ribs could still be better, will do fresh taping tomorrow.

Cycling 1:46:26 [3] +93m

Started out a nice sunny and dry evening and found a pleasant route down to Musselburgh. Felt cracking going along the coast and the views were lovely. The inevitable happened and I discovered the tailwind I'd been enjoying when I turned around at Craigielaw. Spent the next 30mins pedalling squares into the wind and rain that was coming in with the storm. This also caused it to get a lot darker than I'd planned for so the last half hour of the ride was a bit sketchy as I'm not sure my lights are all that bright, and for some stupid reason they don't have a flashing mode. Legs came back to me a bit/became so numb I couldn't feel them after I passed The Jewel.

shoes: Nike Pegasus 32 (Grey)

Easy round the meadows with James and the Haries (aka the three girls who turned up). Decent chat though.

My ribs were a lot better today. Not perfect but decent. I remembered to tape them this morning so perhaps that helped. Hopefully will be able to run at least some of JEC this weekend.

Cycling 1:22:15 [2] +188m
ahr:126 max:171

Raining and blowing an absolute gale so I tried to find another route that didn't end in a massive headwind. This one was pants though, cobbles and loads of traffic lights.
Finished with an obligatory lap of the seat when it got gloomy and tried to do a full kit wanker (Alpecin) on the climb. Sadly he showed me to be an amateur about 2/3rds of the way up and I suffered in the wind all the rest of the way round. Coming around the cliffy bit I was out of the saddle in the granny ring and still struggling to move forward in the 40mph wind.

Cycling 1:53:00 [2] +395m

Work was a bit of a bitch todaya and I felt quite ill all day. Got out for a blast to Penicuik though which cleared my head and nose right out. Blowing a gale but loads of fun and feeling alright. Had to bail back for a couple of laps of the seat due to daylight running out. On the first of these a guy sat on my wheel all the way up the climb but I pushed on at the top and did him on the flat stuff. Able to push myself harder than I thought I'd be able to considering how crap I felt beforehand.

The wind also took my nose scab off but it looks alright under there I think.

Aqua Jogging 1:15:00 [2]
(injured) (sick)

Back in the commie pool with James and Mhairi. Pretty good on the ribs but probably shouldn't have got my chin this wet. Good fun though actually.
