Sunday Dec 10 #

10 AM

Running 1:19:56 [3] 17.35 km (4:36 / km) +414m 4:07 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 16 #7 (White)

From Ferg and Mari's down to Johanna Beach and back up. Another lovely run - incredible views and a really nice beach down there. I'd love to come back here and hike the Great Ocean Walk one day.

Felt complete rubbish on the way down, but much better on the way back so pushed a bit more for a raz-type effort.

Saturday Dec 9 #

11 AM

Running 2:06:36 [2] 23.35 km (5:25 / km) +320m 5:04 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 16 #7 (White)

Long run along the Great Ocean Walk from Wreck Beach to the Twelve Apostles. Met Nicola and ran with her for the second half.

One of the most awesome runs of the year, just behind Vesuvius I reckon. Saw a baby fox, two echidnas and lots of wallabies.

Running 21:34 [1] 3.78 km (5:42 / km) +51m 5:21 / km
shoes: Asics Cumulus 16 #7 (White)

Little loop from Port Campbell with Nicola. Both of us pretty pooped.

Friday Dec 8 #

12 PM

Running (Road) 19:51 [2] 4.42 km (4:29 / km) +3m 4:29 / km
ahr:144 max:169 shoes: Nike Pegasus 31 #2

Planned to go to Princes Park, but switched to Fairfield not long into the warmup due to toilet proximity. On the plus side, the toilet did have paper. The less said about the negatives the better.

Drills 3:28 [1] 0.43 km (8:04 / km) +3m 7:47 / km
ahr:129 max:146 shoes: Nike Pegasus 31 #2

Running (Threshold) 36:13 [4] 9.58 km (3:47 / km) +3m 3:46 / km
ahr:165 max:177 shoes: Nike Pegasus 31 #2

6x 5min threshold. Calf was grand and not a bad session. Legs feeling a bit heavy but just made sure to stay in the HR zone.

Running (Road) 15:52 [2] 3.47 km (4:34 / km) +11m 4:30 / km

Thursday Dec 7 #

10 AM

Running 1:12:21 [2] 16.28 km (4:27 / km) +67m 4:21 / km
shoes: Nike Pegasus 31 #2

Relaxed 10 along past Kew, over the river then back through Ivanhoe and Darebin. Picked up Will for his warm up along the way. Calf was great the whole way so hopefully back to a session tomorrow.
4 PM

Cycling 1:14:05 [3] +71m

Biked quite hard out to Eltham Park then hung some controls in the rain.

27km ish

Running (Terrain/Soft) 6:05 [2] 1.35 km (4:30 / km) +1m 4:29 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (Blue/Red)

Easy test run home from the Keys. All good.

Northcote

I was worried that going to the pool at this time might cause me to miss the climax of the cricket, but in the end was very disappointed that I was able to watch the whole innings.

Started out with 25mins breastroke, then switched to aquajogging for a short while until the clip on the belt snapped, so I did a bit more swimming then called it a day. Can't do a huge amount of breastroke atm because I don't have goggles and it kills my neck after a while keeping my face above the water. If I end up injured for a longer period of time I'll buy some.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Just got a little bit greedy last week and tweaked my calf. I wanted mileage but didn't get much early in the week due to lots of orienteering - should have been a bit more patient and not tried to backload so much but of course hindsight is always great.

Just going to be a bit careful to recover from it properly and a short mental/physical break is no bad thing.
