Sunday Feb 9 #

Warm-up/cool-down. Easy skiing to the meadow and back.

Kootenay Cup in Kimberley. Fun race on a good course. A bit of a tough start, in the back row in the grid. Made it up to the lead pack, but never fully latched on. Moved up to 5th on lap 1, to 4th on lap 2 and finished there. Lost a bit of steam on the last lap. Finished 4th overall (2 min behind Ian Murray), 2nd Masters Man (1 min behind Thomas Dodsworth).

Saturday Feb 8 #

Skiing at Kimberley during the Kootenay Cup races. Some pre-skiing courses, fore-running before the qualifier and rec skiing after the first round of heats.

Friday Feb 7 #

Skate skiing at Kimberley. Super nice fast skiing. Skied the race courses a couple times, then out on the rec trails.

Thursday Feb 6 #

Afternoon run with Rob. South Canoe trails. Felt a bit sluggish.

Wednesday Feb 5 #

Ski practice at LH. Got a bit of skiing in before practice. Easy ski around Ermine Frolic and Reino's. Then, some Z4 intervals on the south loop. Went with the younger group (U16). Worked hard to lead the intervals (ahead of our 15/16 year old girls!). Nice skiing with some fresh powder on top of firm tracks.

Tuesday Feb 4 #

Ski practice at LH. Got there a little bit early, so got some extra skiing in. Nice conditions, cold with good grip. Mostly easy skiing, some poling drills (double-pole and single-sticking) and some sprints.

Monday Feb 3 #

After-work "run" with Rob in S Canoe. Pretty good going on the bike/snowshoe trails after the recent thaw/freeze. Felt pretty lack-lustre physically though. Lots of walking, some running.
