Getting pretty sick of the heat. Sunk about 10 zooper doopers when I got home.

Orienteering race 1:59:00 [5] 17.0 km (7:00 / km) +600m 5:57 / km

Don't know what it is but I am determined to break the long distance curse on me.
Moved around the pack as usual for the first loop but then made a massive rookie error searching around a distinct tree where I thought the centre of the circle was. Was just stupid of me not to unfold the map and check the description.
After that I was well off the pack and pretty demoralized. Got some motivational words from Jim which spurred me on out into the rest of the course.
Got some glimpses of the leaders on the splitting in the rocks which gave me a bit of a gauge on how far back I was.
Pushed mentally through the rest of the course running a little with AB and MD. I was pretty happy to have completed it by the end, even with a terrible time and place, I felt I had overcome the big temptation to pull out.
But.. It turned outthe long distance curse wasn't done with me yet. MP in the splitting would leave me without a time. Shocker

Plan was to ease up a bit on the speed and get into a good rhythm of reading ahead and changing my pace.. Textbook qual stuff.
Not too much to comment on technique wise.. Felt pretty good after the race

The plan was to turn on the nos a little bit more from this morning.. Which was probably a bit of a mistake.
Should have slowed down a lot more and be careful with my map reading. Made a dead-end mistake on the way to 5.. Making me pretty angry so I ran like a monster the rest of the way, at which point my si didn't work at the control.. Making me even more angry. Had visions of the rabies scene in bms.
All up.. Not a very good race. But I am happy with how I salvaged it a little bit.

With max & Oscar up the river from out place.
Pretty flat. Ran a bit of a progression pace for the last 20-25min
Ran from about 4.30 and ended up at about 3.20

Pretty surprised/happy with the times I was hitting.
Around 3.08/3.09 for each. Which is a good 10-15sec of what I was running about 10months ago, and I think I am in a pretty slow period of fitness
