Semi Final - Great fun but confused at the end by codes 33,34 and 38 when you were looking for control number 33,34 and 38!! No wonder lots of people miss punched including S&C! I was leading for a while but ended up 6th.

Dolomites Day5

The walk from the bus stop to the assembly was breathtaking. But the view from 7 up the river with the mountains behind was even better. Only mistake was at 17 so very pleased as it was another tricky area.

All in all it was a fantastic event with tough, physical terrain. The views were stunning.

Dolomites Day4

Another middle race on even harder terrain.

Messed up 2 and 9 big time. At 2 I was too high and eventually relocated on the 2 larger boulders South of the control. From 8 I thought over the spur follow the re entrant around and over the spur to the crag. Problem is I started off in the wrong direction and ended up near 10 making the map fit until I spotted the 2 massive crags SE of 10! Think I wasted 10 minutes on 9 and 4 on 2 but I hit the last few spot on as I had slowed to a walk by then!

Tough, hard area but very enjoyable!

Note
(rest day)

Dolomites rest day so we climbed a mountain!!

It was a beautiful, sunny day so we decided to get the cable car up the mountain and walk to the top along with 2,000 other orienteers!!

Fantastico views from the top and quite scary near the edge as it was a vertical drop.

Dolomites Day2

Arrived at the start as the low cloud came down and could see nothing!

Slow to 1 and then the cloud lifted. Not sure what route to take to 2 but decided on straight until the path which I followed to the road corner then straight again. Small wobble at 12 but apart from that quite clean.

Dolomites Day1

2.5 km to the start with 350m climb in the pouring rain!! By the time I arrived at the start I was drookit!

Hit 1,2 and 3 ok but missed 4. Wasted a minute at 5 as I was too high and slow to 7 as I was wary of missing it. Messed up 11 after using meadow corner as attack point and wasted ages looking up and down the slope. The rain stopped as I finished and the sun came out. It was red hot watching the JWOC sprint race.

Training with C to get used to maps before Day1 tomorrow. Very hot while out running but fantastic terrain. It was like running at Shining Cliff except it was bramble free and slightly steeper. I did 1,2,13,14,16,17,18.
