Orienteering race (WC Long (9.1km)) 2:15:12 [3] *** 13.09 km (10:20 / km) +493m 8:42 / km
spiked:13/24c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Opted to try just get time in the legs on 21A, was always going to be a struggle in current non shape. Lots of walking, enjoyable though.

Took it relaxed from the start and nav fine with a few small hiccups over or under running but not serious. 5 was too low, 6 ran past control, 8 overshot, fine to 17 just lotsa real slow stuff. Left 17 too fast and paid for it, ended up slightly high in the thick stuff, sat for a bit then pushed though and followed water down. Rest fine just no endurance. 23 missed path so had extra contours/slow walk.

Glad did the leg time.

Orienteering race (WC middle (4.8km)) 1:09:43 [5] *** 7.4 km (9:25 / km) +225m 8:11 / km
spiked:11/13c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Start slow expecting to run out of steam.

Too tired to run down and up to 5 so contoured & bashed green - got stuck..
6 fine, 7 fine but then no control where expected. Was sure I was in the right place but figured maybe it was slightly off or my poor eyes were missing it. Looked for quite a while and then with Andy too. We both finally gave up, I made double sure & made sure David didn't waste his time there too.
8&9 good.
Too tired to go around to 10 so straight through green again, good line but again stuck, took much longer but less effort physically for me at that stage. Bit slow to 11, straight to where expected 12. Double checked the electricity poles but couldn't see it. A bunch of others were grid searching so figured if 1 control could go missing so could 2 & didn't feel like hanging around so headed to 13 & finish. Turns out 12 was there just a bit closer to the open ground and a bit further North, oh well, logger track shows I was on the mapped control just blind or it was slightly away.

Enjoyable run/walk.

Orienteering race 18:31 [5] *** 3.5 km (5:17 / km)
spiked:18/19c shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Almost flawless but no speed or endurance. Happy given limited training. In control all along & enjoyable. Pity about fitness, really battled from 12. Prob a 15/16min course for me on last years fitness.
Small losses: 5-6 leaving 5, battled punch at 11, 17-18 left quicker. Rest all fitness/genetic.
Tomorrow will be tough and sun tougher, might need to consider b course esp for long.

Trail Run 26:30 [4] 5.0 km (5:18 / km)
shoes: La Sportiva

Very concerning run ahead of a weekend of O champs (although not surprising giving everything that's been going on). No fitness and no speed. Going to need to make extra effort to make sure just enjoy the weekend as cant have much expectation on this level of unfitness and lack of any sort of O for ages. Rest of the field looks pretty menacing if all fit, so will be back marker for sure.
