Orienteering race (Nav Dash) 24:23 [4] 4.0 km (6:06 / km)

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid....
Not happy with todays effort.

Stupid #1 - In an attempt to save possibly 0.5 of a second i overstretched bounding up some stairs from 8 to 9 and felt a pain in my right hamstring, it got worse running to 10 so I slowed down a bit for the rest of the run. Probably didn't cost me a huge amount as I was struggling with fitness anyway but I'm guessing it cost more than the 0.5 I was trying to save.

Stupid #2 - During the long run from 14 to 15 I must have switched my brain off. As someone passed me at 16 I just sat behind him running to the next control ( I thought I had learned this lesson at my first event ). Something didn't seem right as I got to the control, I checked the control and realized I was at 18 not 17. This probably cost me just under 2 mins.

Stupid #3 - Actually there were only two Stupid mistakes, this one is reserved for later on when I realize I am being too hard on myself.

On a good note my left knee felt great. And I still had fun.
Worse case, next week I will walk it with my girls.

Paddle 52:00 [3] 6.2 km (8:23 / km)
ahr:134 max:181 shoes: Endorfinn Ski

Started to feel a bit better today so I was eager to do something, so why not have some races with stevej and matsiv in the dark at Hillarys.
I had a paddle around the marina before Steve and Matt came in from outside then we had some races around the boat pens. Handicapped races with myself then Matt then Steve. I held them off in the first, decreased the handicap and just held them off in the second, they weren't too far behind judging from the loud splash near the end as Matt went for a swim.
Off scratch in the last race and I couldn't quite beat Steve to the first turn, held him after the turn for a few seconds, but he took off down the back straight. Managed to stay in front of Matt ( He may have been afraid to get too close to the endorfinn on the turns ), and even showed him how to get your paddle caught going under the bridge and stay on the ski.
Glad to be able to put in a decent effort but I was completely drained afterwards.

Note
(sick)

Woke up feeling like crap. My head was blocked, back/neck sore and had as much energy as if I had done some of matsiv's fatigue gym workouts while running Tooms intervals in one of jolt's altitude sessions.
Times like this I really wish I got sick pay. But i don't so it was off to work to listen to oldies complain about there insignificant aches and pains.
Hopefully it's a 24hr thing.
