Nice long ride with MoBiz- exploring the Fort Snelling area, along the north side of the river heading west through the U.S. air force training center/firing range, then crossing 494 and through the nature preserve continuing eest to the river bottom singletrack. We popped out at Lyndale and I rode home from there as Biz and Molly continued back to their place.

Running 1:57:00 [4] 13.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

A bear of a run. uffda! Kelly, mo, Biz and I set off to get Kelly some good hill training. Did 20 minutes from mobiz to theo, then did about 15 minutes of hill repeats, 10 minutes of jogging, then another 15 minutes of hills. Then mobiz had to get back home, we dropped them off at the 90 minute mark. Kelly and I continued for another 30 minutes to get in just a couple minutes short of two hours. I was trashed at the end. Good training.

Running 17:08 [3] 2.0 mi (8:34 / mi)

Warm up and cool down for speed workout. On Kelly's treadmill at home.

Running 12:29 [5] 2.0 mi (6:14 / mi)

Another speedwork session. Two miles slightly faster than goal pace. I felt much better than the last two miler I did. I did have my boots on during the last effort, which couldn't of helped. This one I ran in my treadmill shoes, which are really light, and which I love. Newton somethingerothers. Anyway, I felt good during this one. I am thinking that I can do a 5k at goal pace now. I need to run to curling now, but I resolve to find a new year's 5k or something soon to register for. 10k at this pace is still a ways off, but I feel faster already. It seems it's mostly teaching my muscles (especially hamstrings) to fire at this speed in a coordinated manner. The cardio needs work too, but it's not too far off.

Curling 1:45:00 [1]

We got cold smoked again. Bummer. Still enjoy it even when we lose.

Running 1:04:00 [5] 11.6 km (5:31 / km)

Great OTNT at Ft. Snelling. Who knew we had a map? Ran really hard. Totally broke down on the second to last control, the one on the west side of picnic island. Stuck with my strategy of looking for the control from the beach, which was a terrible strategy. I saw a building early on in my search for the control, but it was unmapped. GPS data shows that really threw off my search. I have virtually no other excuse/explanation other than I was running quite hard for 50 minutes and just stopped thinking well.

Good speed work. My hammies are sore and have been since I started training for speed. My back pain has gone up from 5/10 to maybe 6/10 or 7/10 depending on time of day. This will be what limits me from continuing, but I have not given up yet. Here's my GPS data.

weight:189lbs

Way too nice not to get outside today. Bike Ride up to Nokomis to Harriet to Dean Parkway to Commuter bike path to Hopkins loop back to Cedar and around other side of lakes to Minnehaha Parkway back to Nokomis and back to my house. Great sunny day. Steady comfortable pace.
