Great Minnegoat at Chester Woods. It's been a while since I've felt the adrenaline of the mass start, my favorite format. No skips this year, which was unconventional. I think it must have been due to the fact that there are not enough woods to design a course with more than a few good skips. Very hilly course, the most hilly goat in MN ever I imagine.
Started off well and punched first. Then Andrei and Biz put down the gas. Andrei had a gap on Biz and I into #2, but over-ran it. I tucked behind Biz through 4 and could see him a bit at 5 until he was just too fast. I was on my own from there until 16, holding off Andrei until the trail running came. I had a slight bobble going up to 17 and he caught me mid-bobble, right when I sighted the flag. Finsihed with him in my sights, making up a few seconds by using his line to attack more accurately.
Finished a 12k course with under 90 seconds "lost" on AP, the lowest on the day, which of course I am very pleased by. Where were Todd, Darryn, Curtis, Bullard, Christian, and others?
Fun fun race. Thanks to Georgia and Dave Swanson for the set and vet.
