orienteering race 1:27:32 [5] 7.63 mi (11:28 / mi) +244m 10:26 / mi

Birkie Tour was cancelled due to lack of snow which opened the door for the Lake Maria winter Score-O. I love lake Maria so I was not too disappointed with the change in plans.

The race started out with me in front by two seconds and I soon chose a route that I had been leaning against during our two minute prep period. But with the prospect of having a big group of followers, I choose to try it anyway in hopes of shaking things up a bit. Most did not follow, but I'm not sure if the route was better - it was not much worse, if at all.

The run went well - had a few 30 second bobbles, but otherwise ran clean. My worst decision was to run the lake/swamp around the western island. PFC ran the high ground and made up about two minutes on those controls.

It was a great day, a great course, on one of the better maps we have -- which means I had a great time!

Nice to get in a big effort right before the world freezes over for the next few days.

Fun game of broomball tonight. Got two goals, unfortunately they were the only we scored, and we lost 3-2. Good workout, I was steaming like an outdoor hot tub.

Feeling better again, up to 75%. Hopefully this time I recover fully.

Played one of the best teams in the league and we were up the whole game, but we gave up three in the last end, and lost 8-7. Dang it.

35th birthday, yikes!

Biz and I got a long slow one down on the river bottoms, the sun was out which was nice but the wind chill was -8 which was borderline. I think it was still enjoyable and warm enough, but any colder than that and it's treadmill time.

Weight loss slowed down a small bit because it was birthday weekend, but still managed to drop a half pound over the last 4 days, which gets me to 188.

After the run headed out for some karting. Not toy kart - ProKarts. These are the real deal carts that look like shifter karts. They go 40mph and whip you around so much you get winded after the 8-10 minute race. Very technical and skill driven. You have to really study and practice each turn if you want to lay down a fast lap. Only Scottie and Biz showed up, which was likely due to the cost and last minute invite, but at least in my opinion, you guys missed out on a good time. This was a BLAST. We might have to do a Murphey-Hanhehan training coupled with a race, as the new track is just a mile from the Murphey parking lot.
