Adventure Race race 10:59:00 [3] 70.0 mi (9:25 / mi)

The BooneCrusher II.

Perfect weather on a race date that can often bring rain and cold. We stripped down to shorts and T-shirts at the start line and although chilly at first, we were sweating after the first few miles on the trek.

Erl, Biz, Kelly and I made up a team of racers that was working like clockwork from the gun, despite a winter of no AR. We were off the front from the start, but even at the halfway point, there were three teams that were not far behind, less than 30 minutes. GnomeHunters fielded a very fast team, Team Inspire (who were largely members last years second place team Rev3 Mtn Khakis), and the Wild Hares.

The race was great, with the only exceptions being a few out and backs that were a bit long. The paddle was 9 miles, but the fast current allowed us to knock it out in 90 minutes, which was perhaps the place we made our largest gain.

We all raced very strong all day, virtually never hiking on the treks. Lots of jogging out there. We finished tired and warm, but were greeting with a nice cool building filled with tons of food and drink. And showers!

Many thanks to the BooneCrusher peeps, congrats on getting over 225 racers out there!

Running 1:20:00 [4] 9.0 mi (8:53 / mi)

The second running of Darryn's OTNT. i'm glad I got an opportunity to run it! Had a great time on a fun course. That area of town has a lot to offer in terms of both sights and history. Good job putting together an educational and entertaining tour D!

Great workout.

Ran the river-bottoms renegade apocalypse loop. It was muddy but not too bad. Very quiet and beautiful down there today.

Note

I recently applied for, and now made the final 5 for the US MTB-O team, I recently found out. Thanks to O-USA for the opportunity.

I have not decided yet whether I will fully commit to the idea, but I am giving it heavy consideration. A large dose of motivation to take it to the next level, just need to see if it fits in our AR teams box, and my own athletic and financial picture.
