The Salvation Army Most Amazing race, what a fun day once again. Very competitive this year, with a few returning champs, as well as Biz and very fast friend Alan Eastlund competing.

The race started with a lot of train rides which for most meant lot of short sprints on a off. Eric and I tried to run down a missed train all the way through the city into Dinkytown, unseccessfully, so we started the race in a bit of a deficit.

The race turned around at a fishing challenge, where Eric caught a fish nearly immediately. We widened the gap by running most all of the way from Lake Nokomis back into downtown, whereas most other teams took the bus.

It felt great to get another win (and another check for $5,000) my 6th and Eric's 4th. Long live urban adventure racing.

Strength Training 45:00 [3]

Went to vertical endeavors for the first time in a while. Still not good. Fun though! Got up a 10a, but was thwarted by two 10b's. Argh. Was there for 2.5 hours. Will log about 25% of that as on wall or bouldering time.

Headed out on the Tuesday night Freewheel ride, a 55 mile loop with about 10 guys.

After racing hard at Afton on Sunday, I did not expect to turn around and have good legs tonight, but strangely, I think I had the best legs I've had all year. I felt extremely strong. Even with the benefit of hindsight, I'm still not sure why. I ate well all week, and had some caffine before the ride, and two GU roctane during the ride, drinking Skratch labs. I guess I will stick with that combo moving forward, even though I think it was just a nature cycle of strength my body went (is going?) through.

Running race this weekend, so no more cycling until next week.

Oh boy! The Afton MTB Series race. Didn't have the MTN bike available (in the shop) so I rode the fat bike. The garmin counted 4,093 feet of climb across the four laps. It was 91 degrees and humid when the race started at 1PM. This was one of the most painful rides I've had, on the border of heat related illness throughout.

Decent result, 29th of 40 in the expert division.
